Brave and the Bold: On the House

Sep 25, 2011 16:03

A sleepy suburb in Gotham

The house was old, very old. Anyone could tell you that just by looking at it. Paint was flaking off of the front door, the windows were nearly opaque from a thick build-up of dust and the yard was overgrown and filled with years of accumulated detritus.

None of the neighbours were able to say who had previously lived in ( Read more... )

Romy's ring doesn't tell her a lot, without a green present, but it has its moments. While the two are finishing up a domestic complain that turned ugly, with guns involved and kids in the house - the more reason for Renee to have called in her 'specialist', the ring says something is 'off' about the house.

After the tape is up and the rest of the scene is clear, she asks Renee for some help poking around, just in case.

Renee looks up at the house, eyebrow raised. Most things don't scare her - living in Gotham City, more often than not, you grow a thick skin.

All the more if you're a cop.

But this house...

"It's creepy in a B-movie sort of way," she remarks to her partner after taking a long drag on her cigarette.

"I'll take your word for it. The ring says something is wrong here, enough that its picking up on it - which usually means really evil or really creepy. Not giving any details." And, since she got it, fear has been kind of kept at bay - so she's trusting Renee's guts here more than her own.

"Shall we take a closer look?"

Renee dropped her cigarette on the ground and stomped it out with her boot. She exhaled one last bit of smoke and grinned at Romy. "What do you think?" she asked before making her way towards the dilapidated building.

"This is the place?" Dove asks, looking at the older house. "Are you sure?"

Holly eyed the place and looked back at Don. "Didn' I play this game once? Skinless dogs and freakin' zombies?" Oh yeah, all they were missing was a soundtrack.

Don frowns, looking the place over. It does feel... out of balance, somehow, between chaos and order. But he can't put his finger on what it is.

"Well... what do you think? Knock on the front door, or sneak in the back?"

"Always been one fer the direct approach m'self." Hard to say what was waiting for them inside but somehow she got the feeling sneaking around was not the best option. Looked like it was Scooby Doo time. "Willing ta lissen ta suggestions though."

"I think I hear something, just a second." Romy calls to Renee, readying her weapon, then stepping forward to kick a door in.

"Whoever's there, freeze!" she calls, blue glow she'd dimmed way down going brighter, trying to take people off guard. Mention of Clayface, and verification there's giant spiders here hadn't helped anyone relax.

A brightly clad superhero comes through a doorway, followed by another.

Dove looks at Romy, holding out his hands to show he has no weapons.

"Hawk, shut the door!" Hopefully, that will keep the spiders out for a moment.

"Capes," Renee says behind Romy. "Cowls." She studies the man in blue for a moment.

What was his name again?

"Dove," Renee says, finally. "Am I right?"

"That's me," he admits. "This is Hawk. We're being pursued by giant... spider... things."
