John was back on Earth a few days later after a trip to Xanshi to sort out his head on this whole affair. He didn't want to enter another war so soon after what happened with the Sinestro Corps, but the Zamarons were the ones pushing this. He still couldn't believe Hal was willing to trust Carol after all she accepted the ring, and John couldn't ( Read more... )

"John," he greets, only mildly surprised. "Come on in!"

John walks in, offers a hand to Hal. "Hey man, sorry to drop by unannounced, but I needed to talk to you about the other day."

John, while not feeling bad about his actions, understands what kind of position Hal is in between the Corps and Carol.

"Look...I know the way I came across was harsh, but...you know what I've been through. You saw what happened because of the Zamarons and their screw-ups. All the same, I know you and Carol have history, and I'm not trying to tell you how to live your life. We're both too stubborn for that.

How is Henry?" he asks.

"Not bad," Hal replies. "He's playing in his room. You want a beer?"

"Sure. That sounds great." John says. "Glad to hear the little guys is doing well."

"Hal...you remember a couple of years ago, toward the end of the war how Ganthet and Sayd told us about the War of Light prophecy? Back then, I thought maybe they were exaggerating, or at least I wanted to believe it.

But watching the whole thing with the Zamarons the other day...I saw it that it really could happen, and if it does--" he stops for a minute.

"You remember what they said would happen. Different colors, different Corps...and then the Blackest Night would descend on us all. I can't help but wonder if there's a way to stop the other Corps. Look, we know willpower is the most balanced of the spectrum. But fear, love, rage...those other emotions? They're powder kegs waiting to go off.

And someone is going to need to stand up against them when the time comes." John says.
