I found jumping was incredibly useful if you used long range weapons. Just jump on something so they couldn't attack you, then let loose. Its how I won all my arena fights :P I'd just jump on to the edge of the arena, and if I remember, there was a torch, or little piece of granite that jutted out of the wall, and I'd sit up there.
