Trip alternative sub n would be to go to Oregon this fall and check out Salem and Eugene. I'd also like to check out a couple of places in Portland too if I have the time. That would get me out of town but wouldn't have the hassle of an out-of-country trip. And I like Oregon. I found hotels in Eugene and Salem that have comparable prices to Airbnbs

You can't go wrong with either of those choices. The Oregon Coast is so beautiful and so is the Columbia River near Eugene. Then again, I love me some Floridays!

When I spent time in Portland on a budget i chose the Hi Portland NW Hostel.
Now i lean towards Mc Menamins Kennedy School or Crystal. If you choose to do Salem, Eugene, Portland picking up a Mcmenamins passport could be fun. It rewards you for visiting pubs, staying the night or playing games.

Mc Menamins Kennedy School looks nice, but it looks like that I won't be spending time in Portland this trip. (I'd need to rent a car, and there's a shortage of rental cars.)

I've been sewing for most of my life and I still get nervous as I'm starting to cut out fabric for a project.

Zen and I worked on an art project together. I found one part of it very nerve wracking. He was cheerfully humming when he was working on that part. So we agreed to have him work on it because I was SO not enjoying it!

I was supposed to take a trip to Oregon last spring for a conference, but that of course didn't happen. I thought it would be nice to take a look around, I only needed to be at one part of the conference for a presentation.
