Day 51; or, The 2nd Worst Day In the Lives of the Colonial Fleet

Oh my goodness. So.

Like queenofthorns mentioned a while back, I too have been using the return of Battlestar Galactica to indulge in some older episodes. Specifically: "Kobol's Last Gleaming" (as well as its ensuing three-episode arc, 2x01-2x03). Everything on Kobol is so PRETTY, and everything about every part of the Colonial Fleet's world and stability gets ( Read more... )

Dee stands there and Dee survives. It's almost... well, to be completely honest, it's almost exactly like Anders getting scanned by a Cylon raider, identified as a friendly, and intitiating a retreat signal.

If Dee is the final Cylon, that will basically redeem the entire Lee/Dualla storyline for me, because then Leoben will have been right about "Adama is a Cylon." I recently read good meta about this, actually, but I can't for the life of me remember where. Um, it was very convincing?

OH AND DID I MENTION KARA AND LEE BASICALLY BROKE THE GOVERNMENT. Yeah. Because their stupid sexual tension absolutely, totally did.

I THINK YOU JUST BLEW MY MIND A LITTLE. Oh, kids. You could have been happy.

It's been stewing in my brain for a long time, but... yeah. I feel like either Dee or Billy HAS to be the Final Five, if only because in the grand scheme of things (WHATEVER you might think about Lee/Dee) they are the only two essentially "good" characters on this series. They are the only two characters without skeletons in their closets, without having to make morally questionable decisions. Even Billy's death, for God's sake, was whole self-sacrificing. IN AN EPISODE CALLED "SACRIFICE."

(I vacillate between it being Dee or Billy, actually. See above theory. Also, because Tory has Billy's job, and she's in the Final Five.)

Loved the picspam but mostly I'm replying about Dee being a "good" character.

She
1) went after Lee because hooking up with him was a road to power for her;
2) knew he didn't love her but when he was broken up about Kara and basically on the rebound and really not knowing what he was doing married him to pursue that goal anyway;
3) left him when he needed her the most.

Not at all a good character.

*sobs* OH, BILLY. I would... have a seizure of distress if Dee turned out to be a Cylon. Just. Omg. BILLY.

Srsly, that concentrated period of time is a huge headfuck. It kind of compares to Rose's day in Bad Wolf -> Christmas Special.

There is a certain symmetry to our beloved pilots both having Cylon spouses. And the numbers suggest that the final Cylon should be female.
