I was confused when I flicked over and saw Andre Braugher getting up there. I've heard of Thief (doubt it will ever be seen out here), I thought it was a series? Or is it classed as a miniseries? (and he did win for his last year in HLOTS).
Nominated 1996 and 1998, won 1998. It was a travesty he wasn't nominated every year and didn't win a couple more. I think they saw he was leaving and thought, "shit, we haven't given him one".
Parts of it just seemed so... absurd, I guess. Like Jack kidnapping the President. Everything sort of had the air of "AH YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT BECAUSE WE'RE SO TOTALLY CRAZY" and it ends up... making no sense. I don't know. It's the thing that I love and hate about 24.
OK -- I can see that. :) I've always felt "24" is absurd, so this season felt no different in that respect. I guess I'm amazed at the response the show's win is generating across my Friends list, because...who else should've won? "House?" "Grey's Anatomy?" "The West Wing?" All, I felt, were less consistent than "24" this past year. But tons of people seem to feel that way, so...it's probably just me. :p
I think the problem with the Best Drama category this year was that no one obviously deserved it, at least the way I see it. Like, I looked at that list, realized that I WATCHED and ENJOYED a vast majority of them, but I couldn't point to one show as a standout.
(Or maybe it's because I'm one of those annoying people who thinks BSG should have been given a chance.)
I dunno, although I thought the 24 went kind stunt-y with all the killing (PALMER. TONY. MICHELLE. I'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU 24), I thought it was so brilliantly written this season, much better than S4. I thought it was deserving.
EVERYTIME JON STEWART WON, IT WAS LIKE, "THANKS BUT THIS BELONGS TO STEPHEN COLBERT."
I'm pretty sure that's what Jon was thinking, too. :( This really should have been Colbert's year. But getting to see Stephen kiss Jon and "WOLVERINE I COULD'VE LOST TO, HE'S GOT CLAWS FOR HANDS!" were almost worth it. ALMOST.
I want to see Bleak House too, i'm tired of not knowing what the heck everyone is gushing about. Scully!
The opening? was absolutely amazing and awesome and many other a-word hyperbolic adjectives.
LOST INTO THE OFFICE. Pretty much the greatest ever. I was laughing like a crazyperson.

And HUH, I completely forgot about his actual HLOTS win. Somehow I thought he was one of those unrecognized actor types?

Just out of curiosity...why do you think this season of "24" was worse than others? (well...except for S1, because obviously: Nina = awesome).
