"I LOST TO BARRY MANILOW."

So with a few exceptions, the Emmys were pretty terrible.

-- Megan Mullally? Really? I think even the announcer guy was kind of surprised; all, "...WOW, Ms. Mullally's been nominated for seven consecutive years but hasn't won in five. WOW." If I were, say, Jaime Pressly, and I was kind of working my butt off on this new shows that had some buzz and all that, I would be kind of pissed to see a Emmy go to an actress whose show has basically been recycling the same three gay jokes for like seven years now.

-- Wasn't this the first award of the night, too? I remember feeling dismayed.

-- Andre Braugher finally wins for Homicide: Life on the Streets. WIN FOOT IN MOUTH, WIN

-- I was about to be sort of pissed and confused that Julia Louis-Dreyfus won, but then I looked at the rest of the nominees in her category (Lisa Kudrow, Jane Kaczmarek, Stockard Channing, and Debra Messing), fell asleep for about ten minutes because I was so bored, and then wondered if maybe the voters just sort of randomly picked a name out of a hat or something.

-- STEPHEN COLBERT LOST TO BARRY MANILOW. EVERYTIME JON STEWART WON, IT WAS LIKE, "THANKS BUT THIS BELONGS TO STEPHEN COLBERT."

-- Tony Shalhoub? Steve Carrell was nominated and you picked TONY SHALHOUB? I hate life.

-- AT LEAST GOD DOES EXIST AND THUS MADE THE OFFICE WIN.

-- The party I was at had a bit of a discussion about 24's win. On the one hand, most popular season; on the other, kind of sucktastic in comparison was recent years. Yay for Kiefer Sutherland, even though he really doesn't act so much as looks badass running around and shouting, "DROP THE GUN. DROP. THE. GUN."

-- I desperately need to see Bleak House. Oh, and Entourage. (How often does those two get paired up?)

-- SIGH.

-- For Christ's sake, I can't believe I let the Emmys disappoint me.

I love them, though:

SIGH

eta: OH!! I forgot. The opening? was absolutely amazing and awesome and many other a-word hyperbolic adjectives. I actually that the show itself was very entertaining, which, how often can you say THAT about an award show?
