Is it possible that the alternate universe is... hardcore unstable?

I LIKE TO THINK SO. I don't know what this meeeeeans though. Just that somebody, like, really wants these people to meet? I guess? So the island is basically a mystical Match.com.

Sayid is possessed by something, but instead of Jacob it is Smokey?

I was confused by this, because everybody thought he would be Jacob! But since Jacob is actually good, right, the temple people like Jacob, so they'd have no reason to want to kill Sayid if he was "possessed" or whatever by Jacob. BUT Smokey/Man in Black is otherwise occupied at the moment? Maybe? Basically i don't know WTF is wrong with Sayid. IF ANYTHING??

Kate/Sawyer seems to be over and done - Sawyer picked Juliet, and Sawyer loved Juliet, and now that Juliet is gone Sawyer is just Sad, end stop.YEAH, THIS. While admittedly the episode still felt pretty triangular because of Kate going after Sawyer, it didn't even end up being shippy at all. Yet Jack/Kate were all ~TENDER MOMENT~ sooooooooo... aw. (I MEAN, FRIG, at ( ... )

(commented returned ten years later) (time jump!)

I STILL WOULD LIKE TO FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT JACK AND KATE ARE THE ADAM & EVE SKELETONS. (Remember those simpler times?) Whatever, they have now had multiple lingering glances in the alternate universe that I am comforted. Their AU timelines are both itching to overlap and it will happen. And I feel like Kate needed to go after Sawyer, you know? ~to know~

So the island is basically a mystical Match.com.

BEST. THEORY. EVER.

So....what you said. To all of it.

I think maybe this new reality will collapse at some point, resolving the rift in the space time continuum or whatever? I dunno.

S2: "What Kate Did;" season now: "What Kate Does."

HA, totally missed that. Good catch. :)

My one question about Sayid is...why would Jacob mandate that Sayid be taken into the temple if Sayid was just going to be all...dark and Claire-like? Does not compute?

Is it possible that the alternate universe is... hardcore unstable?

Not to mention the fact that Ethan is in L.A., and not on the island, so...does this mean there are no Others in the alt!timeline?

(LOL at Ethan's "don't want to stick you with needles," ha ha, show and your in-jokes :p )

Sawyer/Juliet was devastating. :( Almost as devastating as Elizabeth Mitchell being gone from the main credits. :shakes fist at inferior "V":

Unless that wasn't really Jacob? That's the only thing I can come up with. And you know, rewatching the last S5 episode, I realized that there is a beat when I realized that - has Smokey (The Darkness? GIVE THIS DUDE A NAME) been orchestrating this all from the beginning? Sure, "Jacob" appears to all these seminal characters and influences particular decisions that, down the road, all get them back to the island... but couldn't you also completely spin that by saying that's Smokey? In the guise of Jacob? Manipulating time and what-have-you (that "loophole" he mentions)? Like, "Jacob" gets Sayid to come back by basically killing the woman he loves. That's... awful. SO YEAH. I am now only 50% convinced that that was actual Jacob.

(The loophole, then, is that Dark can take many illegitimate forms, but Light is only once and pure? That would be hardcore Platonic... and awesome?!)
