Summary: Nyota muses over pickup lines.
On the shuttle back to San Francisco, Nyota turns on her PADD and attempts to go over some of her notes for Commander Spock's class. Uncharacteristically, her thoughts stray from differences in Vulcan and Romulan syntax and phonology to the boy from the dive last night.
Even before he started a bar fight, his pickup attempts had been annoying at best, sexist at worst. She wonders how even a stupid guy could think he'd win a girl's affections with lines like that--though obviously they work for him, or he wouldn't be so cocksure.
With a shake of her head she attempts to go back to studying, but again is distracted, this time by thoughts of Spock's straight-forward, unadorned manner of speaking, and hopes none of the other Cadets onboard notice her flush when she imagines how that would translate to him asking a girl--any girl, not her--for a date. In her opinion, Your company is satisfactory to me, and I also find you sexually appealing is a lot more of a turn-on than It means you have a talented tongue.
She rolls her eyes. Sometimes, the human males are more alien to her than the off-worlders.
