No Bathroom for the Anxious Women...IchatchienDecember 31 2015, 14:34:36 UTC
Ah! Women and Bathrooms! The lines!!!! The Anxiety!!!!! The Dis-Satisfaction! You and Hilary Clinton were both caught in the Bathroom Trap!!! I mean the figurative Trap, not the Literal one. It's a Hairy Trap! OK, you set me up, now I will shut up.
Every time that I see Michael B. (not the other one) Jordan, I think, "Wallace!!!!" from The Wire. Glad to see him recovering from that Friggin' Frightful Four film. I will be seeing Creed and The Big Short next year, so soon. Creed has it Recommenders along with you, but TBS is not a film that I have heard about, other than you.
Tessa Thompson has been getting a lot of good (and the usual Girl friend) roles in film lately. I still have to see The Dear White People one. She has a pretty and sweet face, but there is an acidity and intelligence to her personality that saves her from the innocuous wall paper women roles common in films today. She is a later day Ella Raines, a pretty lady who likes her man but will kick a guy in the balls if he acts up. I like her.

All we needed was that pig Donald Trump to be there to shame people. That would’ve gotten the line a’ moving.
Oh The Hateful Eight, we've discussed that film, but the Q&A sounds great. I wish that I had been there for that with you. Did Madsen address the script leak of that film in any way? I was wondering if his role had been curtailed because he and his agent? were involved in that leak.
No one addressed the script leak. The cast talked about it on Jimmy Kimmel, though. I’m surprised there is still discussion because when the leak first happened it was reported it was Bruce Dern’s copy. I guess people found that to not be true.
His character just mooned around (not mooning like the General's son, ;-) )
The only fair thing Tarantino did was to at least have male nudity.

Now if you had been watching The Wire, you would know that Liev and Pornstache were Bros. I do agree with you, Schreiber gave a very compelling but very low key performance in Spotlight. He plays a self-contained and introverted character beautifully. Much better than Rooney did in Carol.
I'll have to see Youth on your recommendation. It reminds me of an old Maggie Smith BBC film Memento Mori about a group of older people who begin to get harassing phone calls telling them that all people die. Maggie is wickedly good in it. And it has older and some very wise women in it. Why are all these films about old people just about Old men? There are more old women than old men, and the women are much more interesting. Again, Misogyny in Hollywood and Ageism.
I recently watched Katherine Bigelow's Point Break and I have to say that she has improved so much as a director since that film. She uses better actors, sorry, but Keanu Reeves is so very pretty, but he can't convey any subtext to his performance which is probably the reason that he

**testing to see if this goes through** I wonder if it's because my post is so large. I can't even edit the post--I receive an error message that it's too large, even when I'm just deleted words.
Dawny-girl, thanks for this extensive review post. Gonna check out a few that I probably wouldn't have without reading this. And I truly and deeply hope that 2016 is a marvelous year for you my sweet. *hugging you madly always*
Thanks so much for this! I always appreciate your insights into movies, and the wonderful tidbits of news and knowledge you share with them. I will say that I loved the original Point Break, but more because of my crush on Keanu and the fact that the movie glorified surfing (I grew up a bona fide surf chick in San Diego) than for any cinematic artistry. I own it on DVD and for me it holds up. I still say Tom was dressed up as Bodhi when he wore that Reagan mask for Halloween

I bloody hope that was the reason LOL! Or maybe he got up to some debauchery in the mask making it even ironic.
I enjoyed the Star Wars movie quite a bit. It's been years since I saw the original trilogy, and I never saw the prequels, so I mostly took it on its own merits. I'm sure 90% of the easter eggs went right over my head, although I did thrill at the first sight of the Millennium Falcon.
It's been ages and I only remember snippets. The franchise looms large in pop culture but there's a lot I don't know/remember. I've been watching Youtube TFA Easter Eggs vids and I think had I known those I would've really loved it. But I loved Ridley and Boyega. They were so much fun.
I have a friend who is, and he's going broke buying toys and books and action figures.I'm seeing SW:TFA merchandise

Tom's Halloween costumes seem to consist of a mask that completely hides his identity and whatever outfit he has handy. With that Reagan mask he wore the tux from Parkland's Venice premiere. :)
Ross Katz has said some intriguing things about Tom! He's done a good job of making me look forward to a movie I had serious reservations about. The best thing about Tom's character is that Sparks didn't write him. He barely got a mention in the book, but was fleshed out for the movie.
I didn't expect Tom to get a straight to series commitment, but I was hoping he might already have the green light for a pilot. I'm interested to see what a show starring Tom and produced primarily by Tom's company looks like, we haven't had that combo before.

LJ is not allowing me to modify or correct any of my comments either.
I have an ad blocker extension and I wonder if that has something to do with it.
Maybe the links show up in Messages, if not let me know and I'll just print them out for you if you are interested.
