So, I changed my mind. I'm not gonna go for a master's degree in economy after the army. I mean, ok, I still might, but I don't think so. I want to do popular culture studies. I love, love, love popular culture. In the way virologists love the Ebola virus, I imagine. But that's beside the point ( Read more... )

Gods. Fuck...

I can't get on MSN, they don't make it for 64-bit Windows. If you're on google talk, hit me up on dawngreeter@gmail.com. Or just send me an email to which I can reply. Wouldn't want to drag it out in public, but I'd ask you a thing or three about all this. Seems entirely too fucked up and surreal. Thank you for letting me know.

Sometimes you have to search for programs that deal with "Cultural Studies" rather than "Pop Culture Studies". Then you will find a lot.

I did try that as well. And I am getting some results, and am slowly going through them. The trouble is, a lot of what I see seems to be of very little use. I find colleges with a couple of pop culture-related courses, or courses that among other things mention popular culture. And many of the colleges I know nothing about to begin with. I'm slowly getting through all the data, but it's a bit like a haze. Computer science-related stuff I know, and usually have a good idea how to orient myself and which colleges to look for. This is kind of uncharted territory for me.

Anthropology departments also address pop culture...you can try that as well.

The search for exactly what you want on the graduate level will take a while. It not only depends on whether or not the department has the courses, or whether the department exists or not, BUT whether they have the faculty who have the background in what you would like to study. So the research takes on a whole new level!

Anthropology department is the one with popular culture studies in Belgrade, which was kind of a surprise. Makes sense once you think about it, but it kind of caught me by surprise initially.

And, yeah, seems like there's quite a bit of research ahead of me. At least it's not completely boring looking all that info up. One stumbles upon a lot of interesting random stuff.
