Snow!

Well, here I am at work, so Maryland has managed to recover from the snow in a somewhat reasonable fashion. (Although most schools are closed today, since they couldn't get the lots cleared in time.) At the conclusion of the storm, Columbia had twenty-one inches (53 cm), and Columbia is about five miles away from us, so that's a good estimate of ( Read more... )

LMAO

That shivering little star with the hat is absolutely adorable. I wanted to use the stars (because they all look different for different moods... go figure), but I didn't want to copy you. So I'm stuck with lemons, who apparently look the same whether they're happy or crappy. :-P

Gawd he's cute though. :-D Shiver little guy, shiver!

How do you think I feel, Dawn got the cute stars, you got the lemons and I got stuck with some sort of dinosaur thingy. :-P

You can use the stars too! There is a paucity of star mood themes on my flist! Everyone has LotR. :)

I'm not allowed, I get wrong for copying people. Your sister is very strict :-P

Wow, I can´t believe you guys actually close schools when it snows! That never happens here.

Yep. Baltimorons are literally ridiculous when it comes to snow. We don't get it all that often, and when we do, the world. just. stops.

On Friday, I had to go to the store for some ice cream ingredients and it was ridiculous; the lines were wrapped all the way across the front of the store! And for what? Did people really believe that they wouldn't be able to leave their house for a week? For a foot of snow? *scoffs*

That´s... slightly insane. ;o) I mean if a foot is about 55 cms as you mentioned, there is at least twice as much right here now! Granted last Monday things were slightly chaotic after it had been snowing non-stop all weekend, but... closing down stuff...? No way.

We actually ended up with a foot and a half. A foot is 30 cm, and that is what they were originally calling for.

Still, it is insane. I've lived here all of my life, and I will readily acknowledge that my state-mates are fools when it comes to the snow. If you want to drive a Baltimoron into a panic, just whisper that magic word "Snoooow...." ;^D

What is up with this?! We here haven't even got a gross 6 inches!! I thought this was Colorado??

And, I'm being a bad girl and skipping my 9:00 class. Thus, why I am on the computer at 9:30 AM on a Monday.

Evol, evol Tarion! >:^)) I wondered why you were commenting so earlier. Does it say something about me as a geek when I start knowing my flist's schedules by when they post?? :^D

I can't believe that we have more snow then you. This is freaking Baltimore. We've gotten about two feet (total) this year, with most coming from that last storm. The universe must be spinning backwards or something.

Hehe...nothing more than we didn't already know...;P
Besides, I had a 7:30 AM exam and got little sleep!

I can't believe that we have more snow then you.

Man, that is just wrong. It's the apocolypse!!! ;)

A 7:30 exam?? WTF! That should be illegal!

UMBC didn't start classes until 8. Dawn Felagund managed to avoid all classes before 9 except on two occasions: Evolution and Ecology and Experimental Psychology I. And both were just as exciting as they sound.

My friend Wayne used to sit with me in E&E. And when I fell asleep, he would wake me up to take notes for him so that he could fall asleep! That never seemed right to me.

Now he's in medical school.... o.O

So chibi-Caranthir has gotten a bit more cooperative? Excellent! (And yeah, snow. We got about a foot in our neighborhood, while Central Park registered about 26 inches.)

Yep. I bribed Carnistir into behaving, i.e. writing, by telling him that he could not play in the snow until he gave me five pages.

Incidentally, those five pages were finished at about 9 p.m. last night, so I guess he had fun playing in the dark.

Wow! We haven't had much snow at all here and we usually get the same weather as you! But by here I mean Whitby, practically a suburb of Toronto, and we are in a bit of a banana belt, meaning that it is milder because we're closer to the lake. Even a few kilos north of here they have way more snow than us. Sometimes I love being shut in because I can get caught up on a lot of work. As far as your work goes, hang in there! I do hope you get your raise soon and don't have to look for a new job because it would be a pity to give up all the time you can spend on your own stuff. But I know that you're a really valuable employee because you care, you're honest, you are intelligent, quick and diligent. Unfortunately you can't say the same for many other employees, and your friend Kathy there is no exception.

Growing up, we lived in the opposite of a banana belt. A popsicle belt? :^P The rest of the county would be thawed, and we'd still have snow and ice, largely because my parents' house sits at the highest point in our county, I think. But it was annoying when schools would open on time, and our streets would still be snowy and icy.

I'm getting soooo caught up. I just finished "Blowing Valaroma" and will be shipping it your way. And I remembered that I totally forgot to send you that character list. Gah! I'm really daft sometimes. Anyway, sorry about my lapse and I will send that too, later this afternoon. (As I still haven't even written it! *rolls eyes at self ( ... )
