AMC--Chapter Twenty-Seven

I'm going to try to keep this short, for once.

I'm going to rate the chapter for general audiences, although there are some mild mentions of sexuality.

Comments and criticisms are always welcome.

Thank you for reading!

Yet I sense in Findekano the same fire that I know burns your brother: It is my father’s blood, that which makes him a great king, that which drove him to lead his people across Middle-earth to paradise.

Fëanor *actually* acknowledges that somehow, somewhere, for some obscure and totally random reason, Finwë's blood has been passed down through his half-brothers. *That* must be difficult for him to swallow!

Perhaps Arafinwë’s eldest shall like me as Findekano likes Nelyo.”

Poor Macalaurë! He really does need to get himself off to Alqualondë and make some friends more in tune with himself. He grew up feeling so clumsy among the Fëanor gang, when if he had been born to a Teleri family he would have been treasured. *hugs* *can I adopt him?* ; )

Perhaps he thinks that it skips a generation when mixed with the blood of a Vanya. Kind of like male pattern baldness! :^D

*can I adopt him?* ; )

Lol! Yes! He eats a lot, though, so I'd expect your grocery bill to increase a bit. And he's not so good about not playing loud music late at night....

Macalaure is desperately trying, in this part of the epic, to get his footing in his family. He will find it, eventually, although that might not be such a good thing in the long run. :^/

Oh wow.. what a read! I often wonder though how long it will take for Maglor to mature, to really become his own man. When I read this, he hardly felt like a 39 year old to me. Weird how the mind can work with numbers. I somehow hope that both will try to see each others as equals, but then I have to admite, Maglor doesn't make it very easy on his father this way.

But oh my, that discussion between brothers about clothes and which kind of lacing would give Maedhros fast and easy access. I thought I would almost die from laughing, so brilliantly written. I cherish your story, I so incredibly love the way how you tell this family's life, with teens in it (Maedhros sometimes sounds like a teen to me, ready to mature). Another moment that stood out for me was when Maglor asked his father why he couldn't beget any daughters... is that a wish of Feanor I wonder, but isn't Nernadel yielding to him? A delightful pressie as a chapter Dawn, very enjoyable, as always.

Wow, thank you! :) Yes, I like to...erm...bend the notions of LaCE a bit. (I accidentally typed "bed" the first time! Whoops! Wonder where my mind is? :^P) I don't like my Elves stodgy and uptight, without emotions or desires. Maedhros is the equivalent of a 17-year-old (he's 48, I think, in actual years) so he's got one thing on his mind right now. Macalaure, at the equivalent of a 15-year-old, is just learning to think this way.

Another moment that stood out for me was when Maglor asked his father why he couldn't beget any daughters... is that a wish of Feanor I wonder, but isn't Nernadel yielding to him? That was actually a bit of an AU side story earlier in the epic that will probably never see the light of day. (It hasn't yet! It's still only written in my head. :^P) But I left the mentions in because it seems natural that people would ( ... )

Very good as always! All I needed was a hard copy, a mug of something hot to drink and a fire. Unfortunately, open flames are not allowed in the dorms!

I would loathe to deny any of my sons the love of a friend

I think this should be "am loathe to deny" or "would loathe denying"...I'm not 100% on that, but to me, that sentence sounds slightly weird. But I am no Grammar Queen, so don't quote me on that! ;)

I'll accompany Maglor on my trombone! ;) Of course, I'll need plenty of prior warning so I can practice up! And maybe while he's at it he can re-write the bass lines of my Christmas songbook? They suck something awful, and I forgot to bring it up with me to work on!

And with all that commotion about laces, maybe Maedhros should've brought along a pair of gold rings as well!!! ;)
*is evol*

“Does it bother you that Findekano and Nelyo have become such friends?”

Does it bother you, Makalaure ( ... )

Aww, shoot. No starting up a forge then, eh? ;)

I'm not 100% on that, but to me, that sentence sounds slightly weird.

It does sound weird! You are totally right! Funny thing is that I am a grammar goof--Bobby calls me the "English Goo-goo" where "goo-goo" is short for "goof"--but I can never spot errors in my own writing. So thanks much for noticing!

And maybe while he's at it he can re-write the bass lines of my Christmas songbook?

I'm sure he'd be happy to do it! However, as it seems I just allowed niothwen to adopt him, you'll have to ask her to borrow him.

Btw, I am cracking up at the notion of Macalaure on his harp and you standing at his side, playing the trombone!

And with all that commotion about laces, maybe Maedhros should've brought along a pair of gold rings as well!!! ;)

Evol? YOU?? Nevah!!! :^D

Does it bother you, Makalaure??Macalaure just sniffed and said, "Of course not," and went back to packing his Christmas boxers for the move over to Niothwen's ( ... )

No...*sigh* I read and read and read the rules, looking for a loophole, but nothing! Alas!

I can never spot errors in my own writing. So thanks much for noticing!

No problem! I have problems catching my own errors too...and when I do catch them, it's usually after I've printed the 7 page paper!

I'm sure he'd be happy to do it! However, as it seems I just allowed niothwen to adopt him, you'll have to ask her to borrow him.

Damn! Well, there's always FedEx!

Btw, I am cracking up at the notion of Macalaure on his harp and you standing at his side, playing the trombone!

I feel so loved...;P
Actually, it probably would be the funniest thing ever!
Especially because I'd probably be way to distracted to play anything!

Evol? YOU?? Nevah!!! :^D

Nope! Perfectly innocent!
*sings* Fiiiive golden riiiiiings!!!!

Macalaure just sniffed and said, "Of course not," and went back to packing his Christmas boxers for the move over to Niothwen's.

You’ve created a nice aura of sadness surrounding Macalaurë. The poor thing. Afraid of his father and treated like a servant by his horny older brother! This was another chapter with wonderful description and characterizations and great insight.

But why am I so pervy that I like all the following parts: -

“Which do you think is more important? My eyes or the blond in my hair?” - LOL!

“What about your good black riding breeches? --- Those always make the girls in Tirion walk into lampposts”. - ROFL!

“Yeah, but did you ever see the laces on them? --- They’re far too difficult to remove!” - ROFLMAO!

“Varda’s stars! You’ve actually worn robes with no underwear?” - *THUD*

“Manwë’s britches, Macalaurë!” - ROFL!

And my personal favourite: “She kissed my ear and I exploded in my clothes like some stupid virgin - “
“I don’t need to know that!” - ROFLMAO! Oh Eru ( ... )

I died laughing! That Maitimo is one horny Elf!

Died? Uh oh, this is a job for Fingon the Valiant, an expert in first aid with a focus on mouth-to-mouth resuscitation!

*sends Fingon*

And yes, Maitimo is the equivalent of a 17-year-old, so he's got one thing on his mind! :^D

Nice mention of Findaráto to come, Dawn! Way to go! You got a mention of him into the story!! Three cheers for Dawn!!!

But of course! My namesake has to be in it, even if only in the fetal form. ;^P

I can't add anything that the other commenters haven't already said, but might as well pitch in and say I loved the chapter as well. Looking forward to the next one! :)
