Yesterday, Bobby and I celebrated twenty-one years together. We celebrate the anniversary of when we started dating, not when we married. We were young nerds in love, at the end of our 9th-grade year. I was 14, and he'd recently turned 15. What a truly lovely day (and evening). Happy Anniversary to you and your Bobby.

I sometimes tell him that being with him is the same as being alone ... and for an introvert, of course, that is a high compliment.

That's a totally wonderful poem! I adore Walt Whitman. It still kills me how contemporary he always sounds.

Awww! Lovely tribute.

Happy Anniversary! And what an incredibly heart-warming story about your relationship. I loved the bit about living alone with some animals and plants - and spiders! (OMG you are like me in that way - I fell in love with a large orb spider who had made her home in a web on the outside of a second-floor window of our house. I hoped for the best during the winter, noticing that if I tilted my head and looked upside at where it cocooned itself on the underside of the window frame I could see it quite clearly huddled against the harsh environment. Alas, during one terribly heavy windstorm in February she became dislodged from her hiding spot and lay lifeless upon the windowsill for days before she blew away. I was devastated at the time and thought of her today when I had to climb out said window in order to hammer in a screen.
