Coolest DS Assignment Evah!

Nov 08, 2010 19:38

I was just scrolling through the DS assignment list, looking for something dull and easy to write about fruit trees or native plants or powdery mildew or any of the other garden-variety topics that are my bread and butter on DS, and I found the. best. DS. topic. evah.

And It's Mine, Preciousssss! All Mine! )

I know! The funny thing is that when I started with DS, I used to serve for Tolkien-related keywords and, of course, never found any articles. I gawked at this one for about 30 seconds before claiming it; I'm surprised it lasted that long!

I suspect it lasted that long because people tried to figure out where the catch is! (Or just how hobbit-holy the house is meant to be. I mean - underground, vaulted ceilings, round window- and doorframes... that's not easy (or cheap) to achieve! If it's just about decoration and furniture, on the other hand...)

Well, it's limited to 400 to 500 words, so I'm going to go more for how an existing house might be made to look Hobbit-holish! :D

That is so very cool! I could write that. In fact, I should ask you if they are hiring in any case and what the requirements might be.

They are perpetually hiring and, with your experience, I guarantee you'd get in. They hired me, and I have probably .001% of the bylines that you do! :D I have a relative who has never published or written outside of school papers, and she was accepted. (Not my sister, for the record! She has more bona fides than me too!) Here's the general info page for new freelance writers, but if there's anything specific you want to know, please ask! :)

Yeah, I'm in need of a little tidying up in my inbox. I was wondering if anyone would notice! Those 500-some emails are primarily emails from progressive groups whose mailing lists I'm on or digests from the many Yahoo groups I belong to. I always leave them with best intentions of reading them, but once they're off the first page of my Gmail, that almost never happens. I probably get at least 100 emails per day, so reading them all is out of the question. I really need to delete them all. My inbox can be depressing.

Eek, I'm sorry to hear about your day! :( I think you've earned a little fictional Elf torture, if it helps! *hugs* May tomorrow be better. :)

Er, I thought I was doing well the other day when I deleted 3,000 old emails. I still have over 2200 in my inbox. *blushes*

Lol! I don't tend to delete old emails at all, unless they're from groups/entities. Things from people I keep forever. Gmail is dangerous in that it allows me to do that.

I really need to take an afternoon for inbox cleaning. Ha! If you find a spare afternoon lying about unused, let me know. ;)
