My birthday was two weeks ago, and I took some birthday pics that I am now just getting around to posting. Until recently, I had to plug into the USB hub at my desk to yoink photos off of my camera, but today, I fiddled with some wires and can now do so from the couch, meaning that pictures will be posted in a more timely fashion and I can become

That herald's horse looks like he's thinking, "What the hell is this thing on my head? Could you take it off. It's ridiculous."
Guy on the chestnut horse doesn't have his heels down! *TWITCH*
And that one guy's black horse is ticked off at him - can't really blame him.
Ah, it's true that a picture is worth a thousand words.
Very nice cloak! I want a cloak...And a sword. BTW, can't take swords or bows as carry-ons, per TSA. Will have to tell muses.
So they actually let you do archery? Or do you just watch? Because if you got to try it, that would be sweet! If there was an archery class here, I'd take it.

Oh, you. Meanie-head. ;)

His foot's completely out of the stirrup on the second pass! He lost terribly to the Revel Grove knight that ended up the overall winner, so perhaps he should be advised about his horsemanship? ;)

Well, you know, the Ren Fest is open until the end of October.... *innocent whistling*
You really need that internship in Lusby! Maryland is just too cool a state! (Aside from the traffic and rich yuppies, that is.)

Yes, they do! I'm terrible at it, but I do it every year! You can also throw axes, knives, throwing stars, and use a crossbow. For some of them, hitting the target enough time wins free beer! (Or soda, I guess, if underage.)

LOL!

Maybe you should send him the pictures? I figure he at least knew that he lost the stirrup, but now he can know why! ;)

I'm looking into it. I am going to talk to the career/internships advisor and see if she knows more about it. :) Of course, firefox had to make things difficult by deleting my bookmarks list...*shoots firefox*

I lurve archery. We had an archery section in my outdoor education class senior year. It was so ( ... )

YAY!!! Do you know how awesome that would be?? An Elf friend not only in the same region or the same state, but the same county???
*shoots Firefox too for impeding progress on Awesome Internship of Justice*
Maybe I should wait a year, then eh?
The archery isn't one of the ones that offers free beer. :( Probably because it's so popular; there is always a line. Last year, throwing axes and knives offered free beer; I am not interested in crossbows or throwing stars, so I don't know about those.
But the beer and wine at the Ren Fest is reasonably priced and really good!

Those are such cool pics! *pets the horses and tries not to drool (too much) over the magical creatures book* (Though this one post managed to bring back memories of cake decorating and horseback riding lessons all at once--my cakes and myself on horseback didn't look nearly so pretty!)
Until recently, I had to plug into the USB hub at my desk to yoink photos off of my camera, but today, I fiddled with some wires and can now do so from the couch, meaning that pictures will be posted in a more timely fashion and I can become even more lazy than I already have!
Heh, at least you're not as bad as with laziness as I am yet. My laptop stays on the desk, where I keep the camera and USB cable, and now I'm just too lazy to plug the cable in and create a new folder without griping every time! (So when are we going to be able to take photographs with our brain and transfer them onto our LJ's with just a blink of the eye? That'd be nice!) ;)

We got the Magical Creatures book at B&N. It's in the section with Wiccan stuff and marked down--in our area anyway--to $20, which for a hardcover tome is a bloody sweet deal! :^D

Oh, I had no idea that you used to do cakes! I've always wanted to learn professionally; as it is, I (like my mom, who decorated before me) am self-taught. Mostly, I decorated cakes at The Piece with that crap icing you buy in a tube at the grocery store.

It would indeed! Meanwhile, I was exciting just at downloading Flock yesterday.... 8^B

I was going to post to the_nautilus after I took the class on how to use it but didn't have time! But I'll try to make a post about it sometime. ;) It's super cool...at least I think so!
I heard about the Maryland Renaissance Festival before, but those buildings are buolt for permanent use?
Yes, they seem to be! The fair is all housed in permanent-looking buildings; I can't imagine that they build them anew each year. But the fair goes on for two months and is terribly popular in this area, so I guess that it was a worthy investment!
I want to finish one day to wear it to the Elf Fantasy fair with my pal.
Elf Fantasy Fair?! *wubbles and wants to go* There is a definite shortage of Elves at our Ren Fest. Not a single one this year, aside from me. *sad sigh*

I have a cloak like yours. Well, not exactly like, since mine's black and made of a heavy cloth. I made it myself, but the materials were absurdly expensive (200 RMB, which is about 25 USD, for 4 meters of cloth. Bleh.) I made it for my friend, but it's too long for her, so I kept it.
I adored the look of the Ren Faire, though it's not very... historical. But considering that "historical" would have included horse manure and reeking gutters, maybe it's for the best. :P

Ironically, given the American obsession with everything-Asia, many Americans would gladly trade the Ren Faire for access to the history of your country! :) But I love the Ren Faire, so I can understand your envy. (And if you're ever in the US.... ;) )

We've discussed money between our countries before, so I know that that actually is expensive in China, but in the US...dude, that would be cheap! For good cloth like the sort that you're describing anyway.

Yes, it is sort of a fairy-tale version of the medieval era...but I don't think that people would be going if there were the rats and manure and dead bodies in the gutter like the sort that you're describing! :^P
