Warning: Political Rant!!

Are they really this stupid?  Is that even possible?  Does Republican Senator John Thune of South Dakota not realize that in rehabilitating ATV and recreational trails in national monuments and parks we are creating necessary work for people who have no jobs?  Does Republican Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas not understand that in renovating ( Read more... )

Wow. But more than that: Amen.

I wish every registered Democrat--or even just those who donated to the DNC or a Democratic campaign last year--could vote for Senate Majority Leader. Reid would be out on his sorry little ass in an instant. Let someone from a true blue state be Majority Leader, so they don't have to worry about angering the wingnuts back home. Daschle's defeat was a major trophy for the Republicans in '04. It would never happen to Schumer or Mikulski or Boxer or Durbin. All of them have more steel in their nail clippings than Reid has in his entire body, mind, and soul.

I think leaving it to the rank and file to vote for majority leader (and Speaker, for that matter) is a great idea. Thanks for the comment, Jeri. Looking forward to seeing you at ConCarolinas and being about to rant about this stuff over beers.

Hmm, you must be thinking of that *other* Jeri Smith-Ready. I'm not going to ConCarolinas (I really hope I'm not on their program!). But have a good time for both of us!

The weird thing about a friend's list is that your post is right next to a post that is calling for the opposite reaction. Kinda funny. ;-)

Yeah, I can see the humor in that, I suppose. But right now I'm not feeling terribly charitable toward the other side...

This is especially true since the projects listed are, in many cases, not at the top of the Republican’s list. So, to them, it looks like the plan is: “We Democrats are going to make a list of our favorite pet projects, throw money at them, and call it “job creation ( ... )

We won, but Reid and Pelosi still act as if we lost kmarkhoover February 7 2009, 00:46:30 UTC
I just went fucking ballistic on this on my own blog. I feel your pain, brother.

Barack Obama will be a wonderful president as long as he isn't stabbed in the back by Reid and Pelosi. You know how Republicans are going to act. You can always plan for that. But you expect your own party to have your back.

That's laughable given how Reid and Pelosi act.

Harry Reid: Would have to buy some as you can't grow back what you never had.

Should have called it a jobs bill from the start.

If the GOP hates this so much, make them filibuster it. Have John McCain trolling around the Senate floor at 4 am in his $5k pajamas and make them whine and oppose a jobs bill. This ain't Mr Smith Goes to Washington....

And what is with the media and putting on GOP distortion/truth-contortionists 3-1 over Dems? And where are the house Dems that voted for it? They should be on every show all the way from Lehrer to Sesame Street...even O'Reilly (who is slightly less informed than Big Bird) and touting this!

The scoop is that calls to Congress were running 100-1 against. That's what propaganda will do for you. Even if someone is losing their house and job, if the party leaders say the Lord wants them to jump, they'll jump. Pathetic.

Cathartic ain't it?

Yeah. Sounds now like they've agreed to something, but it's not going to be enough, and we're going to be doing this again in six months.

Yup, we were separated at birth. I was ranting over breakfast and supper over these very topics. Is there something in the air in D.C. that causes this kind of terminal stupidity?

If only it were terminal. At least then we'd get some turnover....
