The Banal Circus - day 1 of 3

Aug 04, 2009 16:59

The re-writing of Family Circus comics in such a way as to transform them from what they've been into something someone might imaginably laugh at is a time-honoured tradition, and certainly the ground in that respect is already well-tread.

Nevertheless, this morning, a fellow calling himself Marvin Candle and I, on 4Chan's comics & cartoons board ( Read more... )

Ah, okay. I was unaware that this thing existed. I thought you were making a hypothtical comparison, like saying "It's like Care Bears meets the Salem Witch Trials."

I will investigate this thing directly and report back with my assessment of the veracity of your estimation.

So all this time it turns out that you're Anon!

Do you neither forgive, nor forget?

Well, I have a philosophy as pertains forgiveness: Most "wrong" things that most people do are natural byproducts of who and what they are, and as such inevitable consequences of their intrinsic nature.

As such, forgiving someone for something wrong they've done is a little like forgiving water for being wet or fire for being hot: it changes nothing, and is ultimately a meaningless gesture. I'm all about acknowledging and accepting rather than forgiving.

Tl;dr: Yes.

You know, I'm imagining V speaking right now. Which makes sense, since he's apparently the spokesmaskedman for Anon.

I'm nevertheless willing to accept this as a compliment.

Hilarious!

Hilarity is the standard to which I hold myself even in moments of perfect seriousness. Where comedy is concerned, hilarity is the barest minimum of what I find acceptable.

Are you going to do more of these?

I imagine so. People seem to be grooving on the elegant simplicity of them. The only tricky part is finding new Family Circuses which seem to support this sort of comedy without beating the dead horse too badly. I feel like I've exhausted what Google can provide me with, and the official homepage only ever displays a few at a time.

In the meantime, though, there's always my much more ambitious and voluminous Newdog15 re-writes, which fill a similar sort of niche.
