Great superhero concepts - The Sterling Star

Every so often, I have GREAT ideas for super-heroes.

Mohammed Al Maktoum discovered at a young age that he had an amazing and seemingly supernatural ability. One without apparent cause, and which he has since occasionally and with passing interest searched for an explanation for: The ability to cause those around him to vomit violently and ( Read more... )

Well, I'm glad someone does! I'm surprised at the dearth of comments here. Maybe the humour here is just too dry for some people to get? Perhaps I need to be more overtly absurd.

Great to see you posting again. Also, I'd like to thank you for introducing me to MS Paint Adventures.

Yeah, it's been bugging me that I hit one of my periodic dry spells there. Trying to nudge myself out of that unpleasant little rut.

And I'm glad you're digging MSPA. I was actually thinking about posting about it in the next couple of days and trying to explain the magnificence of this work to people in a way they can understand. Are you all caught up with it now?

Yeah; and my prolific posting of quotes from the series on Facebook has led a few of my friends to pick it up as well, which is always nice. In fact, a good portion of the images uploaded to my Facebook image gallery are screencaps of some of the more striking Pesterchum logs from Homestuck. I'd be happy to share this collection of quotes so that your work in explaining the magnificence of this truly magnificent series may be made easier.

That may just be the thing to do. By all means, link me.

And hey, while we're at it, let's chatter about last night's update.

I never thought I would find Vriska - especially in any sort of interaction with Tavros - to be anything other than vile and grotesque. Somehow, though, that page with her triumphantly holding all that loot and Tavros goggling in wonder won me over. I guess if he can forgive her, then so can I.

Also! An eitht exile on Alternia? Who even knew there were more than five. I wonder if it's an Alternian counterpart to the White Queen, Athority Regulator, Warweary Villein, etc. Perhaps if so, there's some hope of someone getting Spades Slick out of that vault he's trapped in.

But how would you stat that in HERO?

You know, it's curious. Throughout my life, comic books and roleplaying games have been two of my great passions, and yet there's been almost no overlap between the two. The only super-hero roleplaying game I ever played seriously was White Wolf's Aberrant (great system, great setting to read about, but terrible to play in). The only other one I've ever touched was the old Marvel Super Heroes system back in the late 1980, and at that time I was too young to "get" roleplaying games; my friends and I approached it as a board game.

I would presume that you would treat his powers in most systems as though it were a mind control effect which is very powerful but very narrow in focus. Also, lots of athletic skill pertaining to kicking. I see him as playing soccer on the weekends in order to keep his kicking legs in good shape.

*thumbs up*

God, it's a long time since I played Marvel supers... as it turned out, the plot was stolen from Forge of God. My character fucked up big time, Earth got exploded, character moved to Mars to raise dolphins and blot out overwhelming guilt.

I've always been fascinated by superheroes with unusual powers and this one was no disappointment.

Bravo, I say! Bravo!
