So now the grim spectre of death haunts my spare bedroom.

Mar 12, 2010 06:47

The past few months have been trying ones for me, where housing is concerned. Granted, the last year and a half has been more or less continuously exhausting in varied and unpleasant ways, most of them involving Vince in one way or another. But these past few months have presented me with new and unexpected trials, the latest of which is so ( Read more... )

Please. I prefer to think of what I'm doing right now as racking up Karmic CREDIT.

Wait, doesn't Canadian law BAR refusal to rent on the basis that an individual is disabled? Pretty shady.

Apparently it does (as has been enumerated by our anonymous friend a few comments down). Sadly, as I've told tcgiant (also below), this information does little to adjust my situation aside from adding an extra fiber of frustration to the grim tissue of my situation.

That is pretty ridiculous. And I'm inclined to agree with sethimothy that barring the disabled is not allowed. Maybe they get around it by arguing financial stability or something. I assume they're okay if such an individual has a job, then.

Best of luck with this. I hope you're wrong and the universe hasn't been encouraged to kill again.

Well, the cold hand of death is around all of our necks all of the time. It's only ever a question of when it will apply that final bit of pressure which will squeeze the life out of us. It needs no more encouragement than the sun needs encouragement to rise (which would have been useful information to those Aztec fucks that were always performing live human sacrifices in order to ensure the sun would rise!).

This having been said, yeah, I would prefer it if my next roomie didn't have some death befall them immediately after they move in, too.

Well, when you do manage to secure a roommate, just remember to lock the doors at night to keep the serial killers out. :)

I wish I were not currently living the sort of life where that advice seemed to make sense to me.

maaaaaaaaan fuck your landlord the dude sounds like a cock knobbler and I bet what he does is illegal in more than one way.

dave_littler March 12 2010, 22:14:38 UTC
There is some definite knobbling of cocks going on here, no question about that. The problem is, knowing that cocks are being knobbled by him does little to empower me to change his behaviour, vis a vis the knobbling of reproductive organs of any kind or vis a vis renting policies, for reasons I discuss in my comment to our anonymous friend, below.

But yes. Knobbling. Absolutely.

You tell that Chuck Knobblauch that you know what he's doing is illegal, and he'd better let that background check slide or you're going to be forced to drop the hammer.

Yeah, and we'll see how long it takes for this obviously-shifty guy to engineer some reason to have me evicted. It enrages me that I need to allow him to get away with his horseshit-tier behaviour, but it would enrage me even more to find myself once more in a position where I need to constantly be afraid of being cast out of my home on the capricious whim of an asshole. Especially in light of the financial burden of not having a room-mate, I haven't been able to recoup the financial losses incurred by my last move, much less being in a position to move again any time soon!
