Jayne sauntered out of the cafeteria in the direction of the lounge. Yeah, there'd been a rescue mission, but he didn't have anyone over there and he sure as hell wasn't getting paid for it. So instead, he'd gotten himself a mighty fine meal when he spotted the newcomer. Looking her over good and proper, he eased closer.

"Y'look new," he offered helpfully, "Still findin' your way about?"

He wondered if he had it in him to give enough of a gorramn to lend a hand. Well, he'd see.

Dani glanced up - and up - to him before she offered him a little smile. "Bonjour," she greeted him. "I am new," she admitted. "At least, I think I am," she continued, extending a hand toward him. "Danielle Legard. I just woke up in the bed 'ere, and I 'ave read the papers," she continued, her accent soft but present.

Jayne looked at her hand a moment, blinked, and then shook it once before letting go.

"Jayne Cobb," he offered, "An' yeah, that's about how it goes 'round here. I ain't been here more'n a couple weeks, but we get new folk just about every day. Might wanna check in; I guess that's what they tell 'em."

Really, he didn't care one way or another about the checking in thing. He hadn't done it in the traditional sense.

"'Course, there ain't many folk about today, so it c'n likely wait," he ventured, "Bunch of 'em got swiped by the other side, so it's all rescue missions and the like."

Her head tilted to one side as she went over his words. "Swiped by the other side?" she repeated. "You mean kidnapped?"

Though she had glimpsed something about that in her skim through the letters. "That is 'orrible," she breathed, her brow furrowing a little. "Why are you not out 'elping to rescue them?" she inquired as she studied him. Big bloke like him surely could handle a rescue mission.
