Easter Bunions

I'm leaving for my parents' place this afternoon for Easter weekend (a three-hour drive from Toronto).  My mother had bunion surgery a couple weeks ago, which involved breaking her foot in two places.  She's recovering well and getting around on crutches, but obviously she hasn't been able to cook or clean the house since the operation, so she's

Dessert ideas:

Chocolate covered fruit. This goes over well for holidays and doesn't take a lot of effort.

Sauteed dried figs paired with gorgongola cheese. Surprisingly desserty.

Everyone loves blueberry pie.

...my parents flipped out when I spent $7.99 on smoked salmon, and they live in a rural area, so unfortunately asking for things like gorgonzola cheese and dried figs at the local grocery store is likely going to get you beat up.

For ME however, this sounds awesome. Thanks for the ideas!
