Yeah. Sometimes it's necessary for us to be dropped onto a prospective planet from orbit. If the landing areas are controlled by the enemies and there's no chance of getting a Pelican set down.
We have a group, the ODST, who are trained, but sometimes we SPARTANs are needed if they need a bit of extra firepower.
[That's already a difficult concept to grasp for him, as he's only just been introduced to the idea of space travel. In ships, he can see, but in just armor? These guys must be really hardcore...or crazy.
I don't even know where the real ground on this planet is, but st least there's something to stand on. At least from the other places I've heard about, they aren't all like this.
