Some people would and that's entirely their choice. Personally, I'm not doing anything at the moment, but that's more due to the fact I've only just recovered and would prefer my bones didn't snap again.

[There's a pause before he smiles.]

It's good to see you back again, Erik.

Likewise. I apologize for not checking up on you that day in the hospital, but I had been barred from leaving.

[ He frowns at the memory of that night, but knowing Kurt, knowing that despite everything that's gone on, Charles says that Kurt has put up with him. ] I'm glad you're doing well, Kurt, though I'd hate to see you make that choice.

[ If you haven't, that is. If you have, however... ] This isn't a war I want our kind involved in.

[He shakes his hand and head in dismissal of the apology for the hospital. It really was okay and Kurt knew that more important things had occurred.

Again he finds himself shaking his head and raising a brow at Erik.]

Ideally I'd like for no one to be involved and for to fighting to be happening at all. No matter where I am.

Charles will be pleased to hear that at least. [ And so is Erik to an extent. ]

It's too late to prevent this fighting, inevitable as it is. This war is none of my interest, short of wanting to return, and it seems fighting the Sith would not allow us to do that.

Charles helped me come to that conclusion with time.

There's nothing we could do that would have prevented this, it's bigger than us all. I feel for those involved, those that are listed when otherwise they wouldn't have been if Revan had left them alone. I feel for all the mutants, humans and aliens, I don't want anyone involved in it.

You're a good man, Kurt. [ And there's a look of sadness, because after what Jean has been showing him, what Alex has said to him earlier, it has him quieter for once. That despite their same end goals in mind, he'd concede Charles always took the safer route. ] And so is Charles for the record.

You weren't drafted, were you?

And thank you. [There's a pause and his brow furrows.] Something's changed about you.

[ Like people haven't said that enough about him already. ]

What do you mean? [ He'd defend himself, but knowing what Kurt meant was more important than rushing to say Erik hadn't changed in the slightest. ]

I can't put my finger on it exactly. More driven, possibly angrier. [He's frowning because he really can't describe it.]

Hardly. [ Erik frowned at the accusation, because if anything, he's been struggling to avoid letting his anger get the better of him, especially after Charles' constant pleas to the contrary. ]

It's this situation, the draft. I can't help but feel we're all threatened for something greater than what's been mentioned so far, and the last thing I want is for any of us to be betrayed.

[He honestly doesn't mean it if he's offended Erik in any way. He listens and sighs, propping his chin up with his hand, sitting by a table.]

I don't know. One minute I think I understand some of what's going on and then something like this comes along.

None of us seem to be happy about it and none of us want to be betrayed. Yes, those drafted are being used, but it's their choice if they want to go along with it. I just...don't know.

[ Keep trying Kurt. While Erik may be easily offended, it's certainly not a result of this conversation just yet. ]

No one really does. You take what you can from the changes, [ Or at least, that's what Erik's been doing. ] but in the end it comes down to them making an intellectual choice. If at all.

Like Charles, I can only offer an alternative before it becomes too late.

[Well, that's good, hoping that it won't go there at all.]

And what's your alternative? Standing against them? Turn our backs and ignore what's going on?[Even if he feels like Erik has changed, Kurt will still treat him no differently than he has been for the past couple of months. And they are genuine questions, not said with any kind of heat but with a mild curiosity.]

Stand against them, of course. It's too late to ignore what's been going on as a result of the draft; what can and will happen if we don't do something, Kurt.

[ The fact that he's persistent in his questions doesn't escape his notice, but Erik has been bothered by this since the day he came back, regardless of what it means towards others. ]

I have no intention of coercing everyone, but I can't help but feel it might be for the best if they're at least aware of what can happen.

Neither do I, Kurt. But it only seems that given what's happened here, it's inevitable.
