Lecter & Open | 2030 hours | 2nd Floor Lounge Da Skep

Jul 03, 2011 11:29

An interesting set of days since he'd arrived, and a discovery of absolutely nothing useful in regards to where on Earth this city was, or how he'd come to be here, had left him somewhat drained, though strangely relaxed in his isolation. He wasn't home, and that made him uncomfortable, but then, he also didn't have to worry about being a fugitive ( Read more... )

Kate teleported down to the doors outside the lounge, intending to push buttons on the vending machine until something came out.

Carefully, she made her way in, some what sleepy. Huffing to get her hair out of her face the started pushing buttons. "Come on, come one..."

The hair on the back of her neck stood up and she looked around. "Oh hi! Are you new?"

He flicked an eye in her direction, gazing lazily, assessing casually. Ah, one of the children.

"I don't suppose you might happen to be 'Kate?'" He wasn't certain, there was the potential for there to be other young girls here that no one had met yet. He had a feeling Erik would have mentioned any he had already come across when he brought up Kate.

Something about her demeanor struck him as befitting the girl who needed someone to cook for her and protect her. Such was the nature of the relationship to her he'd assumed from the small bit Erik had mentioned. Some people were experts at subtext. Most people could be if they shut up long enough to listen in the first place.

"Yes, I think you are her." Of course, he completely disregards her question, because he only answers what he wants to. Its nothing personal.

Almost instantly she tensed, turning to put her back against the machine. "How do you know my name?"

Instinct was to flee. Eyes widened, already half in the thought to teleport, she stared. It went against everything inside a Tomorrow Person to hurt another. They just couldn't. But Kate was the one who was most 'wild' most able to growl and hiss like an angry kitten, to appear threatening.

Lecter narrowly resisted laughing at her expense. "It appears this means my assumption was correct. If that is your real name, don't worry too much. Your cover hasn't been blown, so to speak. I simply put two-and-two together. Your friend, the cultured man from the second-floor mentioned a young girl he was taking care of. I simply remembered the name. You don't have to worry though. I'm not going to use it against you."

At least, unless she gave him some reason to. But that would be foolish, considering the last thing he wanted was to make an enemy of her self-appointed guardian. Though he didn't know what the man was capable of, he was intelligent enough not to seek to find out.

Technically France's first post was before this one in the timeline! 8D; paysdelamour July 5 2011, 04:09:29 UTC
Francis had been feeling a little restless staying in his room for most of the afternoon and evening, and so it was that he found himself walking around to take a look at things on the second floor. He'd fully explored the first floor that morning after speaking with a couple of the guests, who were not those strange creatures that seemed to be the staff in this place. He was very grateful for others that were not those strange beings.

As he turned the corner, he noticed two choices in front of him - straight ahead, there was more hallway to the rest of the hotel wing he was exploring, or, there was a turn to the right within the wall. Intrigued much more by what he could not see, he stepped to the right, taking a turn into a lounge area with someone already in it. Immediately, he spoke to the person who seemed about ready to fall asleep, though he spoke rather quietly. "Ah, pardon, I didn't mean to disturb you." His voice was obviously still accented with the heavy French dialect.

There was no mistaking it, the pleasant flow of a beautifully authentic French accent. It stirred memories both pleasantly reminiscent, as well as long buried paranoia. Both eyes opened and he bore them alertly at the newcomer.

"Il n'ya rien à pardonner. Vous êtes français?" [[ There is nothing to pardon. You are French? (here we go again ( ... )

Francis' eyes lit up with surprise at hearing his language come from this stranger's mouth. Not that he wasn't relieved or grateful, he just hadn't been expecting French from anyone around this place. Regardless, he smiled politely, and responded to the man.

"Mais oui, monsieur! Je suis français. Je viens de Paris, en fait, j'ai vécu il ya plus de ma vie." He detected nothing particularly strange about the man's accent - it was apparent that the man was not actually French, or at least grew up outside of France, for there was just a slight accent difference in certain sounds, more Germanic and Slavic-sounding than French. Not that it mattered, truly, he was simply happy to have someone in this place, who not only spoke French but was willing to speak to him. "J'ai entendu dire que personne ne sait le pays dans lequel ce lieu réside. Est-ce vrai?"

(( ooc: "Why yes, sir! I am French. I come from Paris, in fact, I've lived there most of my life."
"I've heard that no one knows in which country this place resides. Is this true?" ))

It delighted him to be right in his assumptions. Delighted him even more to be able to use French again. He gave a solemn nod though, in response to the question.

"Il est vrai. Jusqu'ici, aucun d'entre nous avons été en mesure de confirmer notre résidence actuelle. Non pas que beaucoup d'entre nous avons reçu beaucoup d'éducation à la géographie mondiale. Je suis sûr que quelques-uns d'entre nous envisagent, si nous sommes loin de la Terre que ce soit."

(( ooc: "It is true. So far, none of us have been able to confirm our current residence. Not that many of us here have received much education in global geography. I am sure a few of us are contemplating if we are nowhere near Earth whatever." ))
