OMFG that is one scary future. Even if Harper doesn't get away with all of it, this is one SCARY reality.
Granted, my MP, unless something goes terribly wrong, will be a very Orange-flavoured Red (he's voted on some issues against his own party and with the NDP), but I tremble at the thought of Harper getting in by some mischance.
Dammit, the term "neo-con" seems to be seriously abused in this election campaign -- I find it quite annoying that it gets slung about as an all-purpose slur against right-wingers, when actually it refers to a very specific ideology. The WSJ editorial page is quite conservative, even lunatic at times, but they're not neo-con. There's also nothing neo-conservative about the Conservatives, even if they're fools enough to have decided reflexively that Canada should be casting itself in with that lot.
I completely missed that because I was thinking about the overuse of neo-con and the importance of non-partisan election officials. Grad school is truly messing with my priorities.
According to the oath I must swear, I'm not allowed to engage in partisan activities on election day, prior to the election. I will not wear any party colours to my post that day (well, nobody will see my orange thong).
