I know, I know... It's nothing compared to [insert name of the frigid hellhole you live in here] but it's getting awfully cold riding in the evenings here in So.Cal. even by So.Cal standards

LOL! You know where my frigid hellhole is. :) Sorry to hear that's it's so cold in SoCal. It's almost never cold where you are, so if it's any lower than 50 for you guys, it feels like -10.
It's sensitization; I've forgotten how many times I've gone up to Julian around this time of year and wandered around in shorts, T-shirt, and sandals with the temperature in the high 40s to low 50s, and all the turistas in their down parkas and heavy jackets looking at me like I'm crazy. But it's nice and warm in the sun, or indoors...
Darrel gets shafted in that he has the artificial wind chill factor to drop the effective temperature -- at 50° F, riding at 50 mph means he's losing another ten degrees in wind chill.
So YOU'RE one of those crazy people I see around here who are running around in shorts in the snow! Today, it was -2 when I left the house (and there was fresh snow on the ground), and as I was driving, there was a teenager walking down the streets in SHORTS. Kid you not. I just don't get it. I'm the turista walking around in the down parka and still freezing. ;P
I might be heading through Utah again around Memorial Day weekend. The GWRRA Region F Rally is in Pueblo Colorado this year and I will probably be attending that.
