body/health blabber... sorry!

Mar 18, 2008 23:42

I just finished doing yoga for the first time in my life! And mama, I feel LIMBER. Limber, stretched, bendy, relaxed, and just lovely. Wow. I never realized just how great my body would feel after something like that ( Read more... )

Never say sorry for what you write in you lj, it's YOURS!

As for the iron pills, perhaps you should see a dr and get your iron levels checked. My sister is a vegetarian & I had to take more over the counter iron pills a day than she did! For a year!

Haha, true enough!

Yeah, I should probably go to the doctor to get a lot of things checked out, but I don't have a doctor here in London, and my old family doctor just recently retired. I guess I should get on that, eh?
I've always had problems with my iron levels... I used to take iron a few years ago and then I went through a phase where I refused to take anything in pill format (which is hilarious considering what a pill junkie I am now :/), so I'm giving it a shot again. I'm pretty sure I get like absolutely no iron in my diet, which I should probably fix.

don't you have to concentrate a lot in yoga?
or is that something different? I thought yoga
was like an intense meditation type of excercise..
otherwise I thought it'd just be stretching..
I have a book about this I should probably just
go read it..
I wish I had a routine, my work at the moment prevents
me from doing anything routine, sometimes I have to
be up at 2 am, sometimes 7am.. it's all over the place..

You do have to concentrate a lot, because you have to make sure that you're breathing in a certain way (they call it "core breathing" or something) and stretching certain limbs/muscles when you're in certain poses. I suppose it definitely is a form of meditation because you're very clear-headed and focused on what you're doing while you're doing it. It's much more than just stretching though, because you're positioning your body in different ways and holding the poses, so it gets pretty tough, and I really felt like I got a decent work out afterwards. I can feel it in my abs and shoulders today, that's for sure! haha.

Routines are hard, especially if you have a wonky work schedule... but I think if you take the time out during your day whether you've only got a few minutes or a couple of hours, to do some exercise, it definitely makes a difference. A lot of days, when I'm really dead at work, I'll get down on the floor and do crunches heh. I probably look like a royal tool, but whatever! :)

Yeah I have an issue with concentration, I think I have ADD lol,
I can't sit still for long or concentrate, I actually get a bit
ridiuclous and almost freak out when I have to stay very still..
I have bad hips and a bummed up leg/knee so I have a hard time
staying in positions too long but i do push it sometimes haha..

We always excercise everynight even if it is only like 30 crunches,
but with this job especially in the summer it's not exactly like
you want to get a gym pass or come home and do a full work out,
we walk for probably 6+ hours a day at work, throw in a bit of
lifting and carrying machinery.. the other two hours is the drive
to and from places.. I need a more relaxed job then I'd love to
get a gym pass.

dammit. Now you have hooked me on Google Sky. That shit freaks me out.

I think your exercise plan sounds great! I have such a difficult time sticking to one. I never want to exercise unless I feel gross or am having a "bloated" day. Then I throw myself into a frenzy of exercise for about two days and then give up when my self-confidence returns. :) yup, I'm a dummy. Never going to get anywhere doing that.

It's incredible! I am so fascinated with the sky, I love to just sit and think about how insignificant our planet is in comparison to the millions of breath-taking enigmas that are out there in the galaxy. There is nothing more beautiful, I swear.

That's my plan, the next step is to see if I can actually stick to it! I don't have much luck with sticking to anything, but I dunno... I'm pretty determined with this so I'm going to try as hard as I can. For some reason I'm just completely obsessed with the idea of getting really active these days. Maybe getting older is freaking me out or something, who knows. All I do know is that it's beneficial for SO many reasons, no one should have any excuses NOT to take care of themselves! So get on it, you! ;) <333

My chiropractor suggested I start doing yoga too because it will help me strengthen all those muscles in my back that are messed up. Hummmm! Intriguing, especially after reading your post.

I'm glad you've found some motivation to eat better :) Always a plus!!!!

I freakin' LOVE the stars. Wait till the first stream of really warm nights and go star-gazing. It's phenomenal.
