I like the part especially, where it is said that they hid their mutual attraction - aside from enhancing the impact of the revelation on all the others, it add's the subtlety I prefer in my slashy stories.
You said this is for getting over it (I prefer going through it, cause the loss of a loved one isn't something you get OVER) and not fixing it... I'm intrested how'll pull that off...
oh, i agree, love isn't something you ever get over. but, that's the, double-edge of the song used as inspiration("...as soon as forever is through, i'll be over you." because there IS no end to forever, it's not possible to get over it). and, unfortunately, right after i posted the comment about this NOT being a fixit fic, muse!First Aid came bounding in, dragging along beat-to-hell!Wheeljack, and yelled, 'look who i found!' at which point, (NOW)muse!Wheeljack proceeded to fill me in on the next few chapters. so, thx there, 'Jacks, for complicating the crap outta this story, because NOW it IS a bloody fixit! O.o

I don't mind a fix-it fic at all. But, I hope that Ratchet's personality will not get too much of a dent - even though he get's Ironhide back in the end, this reminder of mortality, and that even a medic can't save everyone... well...
*shrugs* meh, i rarely notice the music, myself, unless the author draws attention to it. :) i'm fairly sure Ratch will be okay, though he'll certainly be getting more than he expected. *winks*
