My mother passed away last month.  She had a stroke of all things.  The cancer never came back.  Her doctor had warned her about high blood pressure and he thinks that is what triggered the stroke

So sorry for your loss, DW. Thank you for letting us know. I thought about you and River and your mom recently and the amazing story you shared with us on your reunion a couple of years back. I even remember that your mom commented a few times on LJ! It's a special and rare person that can accept change and open thier mind and heart the way your mom did.

I send my sympathy to you and River on the death of your mother, with apologies for lateness as I only came upon this post now. Looking back at the QAF boards), you always seemed to me to be a woman of true grit and such women generally have remarkable mothers. I remember your few postings about your wrench of your home-leaving and, ultimately, the wonderful, amazing story about your reconnection with her. In the end, love conquered hate and fear and ignorance. And your mom really loved you.
