“You…you…!” The angry girl began, approaching Taeko and slugging him across the face hard, “You traitor! Fighting against us, sabotaging our search! What do you think you were doing?” As she raised her fist to hit him again, she felt a hand on her wrist. Looking, she saw Adrian holding her back. “Stop it, Sayomi.” He warned, sounding concerned. “Shove off, Keller.” She said angrily, wrestling free and pushing him aside. “What do you think you were going to achieve? The system’s going to break down if we don’t get those shards! You know what that means to me…to us.”

Reeve eyed the small silver band in yet another attempt to decipher the text engraved on it. According to his mother, it had been in the family for generations. She didn’t even know what it might have said. He thought about wearing it, but the minute he put it on, his entire hand would burn painfully. The man never figured out why that would happen, but it most likely related to the engraved text. He wondered if Violet might be able to read it, but that wouldn’t make sense. His family weren’t Ancients, not even close. He knew that much.

“GHAST mods? Wait, can’t you get banned for using those?” Adrian asked, sounding more than a bit surprised. Sayomi remembered the voice in the Lobby had mentioned something about broken and modified GHAST devices getting people banned. “No way. They won't catch me.” The girl in the red dress said slyly in a low voice. Adrian just sighed. Sayomi raised a brow. She’d never use mods herself, but she had to admire this girl’s confidence. “You’re a brave person. What was your name again?” She asked, crossing her arms. “Call me ‘Isis’.” The other girl replied simply, shaking her head.

“Hey, Isis!” Sayomi called, approaching the familiar girl, who was wearing a different red dress from before. She bowed her head slightly. “Sayomi. Adrian. It’s good to see you both. Congratulations on finding the Golden Armor Shard.” “Thanks. I see you haven’t been caught.” Adrian noted. “Aha! I won’t be, either.” The girl said, laughing a bit. “How are the mods coming?” Sayomi asked, smiling. “They’re still very basic, but I’ve deciphered some complex coding.” Isis explained, bringing her GHAST to operating level. “Check this out.” She said, pressing the screen a few times. Suddenly, a satchel materialized on her.

“Finished any more mods, Isis?” Adrian asked the hacker, who was now wearing a white blouse with a red skirt. The girls eyes positively lit up at the question. Sayomi knew that she liked showing them her mods. “I’ve got a good one, but it’s a little more noticeable than the previous ones. Watch the horizon.” She said, configuring the oval device on her arm. The two turned just in time to see a digitized sun begin to rise. “But it’s only 0200.” Adrian said weakly, scratching the back of his head. “Actually, it’s 0720 now.” Isis corrected, grinning sheepishly.
