willowfaerie2 's postings on 80's music has made me think more and more on a fantastic band we had here in the 80's called Do Re Mi - great songwriting, wonderful production, talented musicians, and the vocals of Deborah Conway up front.

I couldn't do this without including Mamma Afrika - the late, great Miriam Makeba - a wonderful singer, who first brought the song Mbube - the classic song by Solomon Linda -  now known as Wimoweh - to the ears of we Westerners a year before the Tokens, who are often credited with introducing it.
