A Christmas Poem for All Women

Dec 07, 2011 22:30

This is by the wonderful Roald Dahl. Many of you will have read it before, but I think at this time of year,  many of you will relate and appreciate it:

WHERE ART THOU MOTHER CHRISTMAS?

Where art thou, Mother Christmas?
I only wish I knew
Why Father should get all the praise
And no-one mentions you.

I’ll bet you buy the presents
And wrap them large and ( Read more... )

I must say that I've never seen this poem before...but now that I have, I love it! Once again, it's the woman behind the man who saves the day!

It's a good one, isn't it? :D

As they say - behind every successful man is either a thoroughly surprised, or completely exhausted woman! LOL!

Oh, just looking over what he wrote, I forgot he wrote so much! I think my favourite Roald Dahl book when I was younger was one called The Minpins. It wasn't like his others so much, it was an absolute joy to read and it had beautiful pictures. It was a long one, but kind of like an illustrated version.

Aside from the obvious choices, I also liked Danny, The Champion of the World.

That's fun and so very true :) And entirely new to me, but then I've read very little in English that is neither work-related nor a fic :)

Roald Dahl wrote some wonderful stuff - humorous poetry, children's stories, and some very nice dark tales.

He wrote Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which was made into the two movie versions of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
