I asked the ever lovely
willowfaerie2 for five questions for this meme, and as usual, she came up with some beauties! Thank you my dear, I've enjoyed answering these, even if some of the choices were hard to make.
Her questions to me were:
1. What book are you currently reading right now, and why did you select that book? Are you enjoying it?
2. What was the last

1.If you could sit down for tea and a chat with anyone, fictional, historical or contemporary, who would it be, and why? What would you like to talk about? (you can name more than one person, if you want to)
2.If you could go out (day or night - anywhere) with any fictional character, who would it be and what would you get up to?
3.What was the scariest book you ever read?
4.Where would you like to see yourself in five years time? (Be as silly or serious as you want with this one)
And I'm going to throw one of yours back at you, because I enjoyed it so much, and think it's a great one (I'm going to include this one in all of mine, I think!):
5.Who are some of the people in history that fascinate you?
Hope these are okay... I'm looking forward to your answers!

In history my favourite 'places' are India and Persia.
Only ever tried the 'Shag, marry, throw off a cliff' meme, so make me be adult (almost impossible) and think:
Ricardo Montalban hates tortillas.

1.What book or books, film or documentary that you've read or watched would you consider the most thought provoking, moving or left the most lasting impression?
2.If you could travel to any place and period in history, where and when would it be?
3.When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
4.If you could choose a career other than the one you're in, what would it be?
And I'm going to include this one in all the questions I give out because it's a beauty:
5.Who are some of the people in history that fascinate you?
And don't feel bad about Kung Fu Panda (I've watched it too) - a few years ago, my answer would have been Pokemon or Power Rangers, most probably. Or the Simpson's Movie (thank heavens that stage is over!)

Hatshepsut!!!! I ADORE Hatshepsut!! She is the most intriguing, extraordinary figure. There needs to be a film, mini-series, something at least - she is the most glorious person and I almost wept when I saw her name here. I went to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo a few years back and it is simply one of the most wonderful places in the world at any point. It is full of glory and wonder. And then Akhenaten. I recall the guide in the museum showing us an extraordinary statue of him and saying that based on the statue there was some discussion that he was actually a woman (I doubt it) but the statue was very feminine (big hips, rounded belly).
And then another Captain James ... what an extraordinary man he was.
And what a shame his wife burnt his personal letters. Oates' mother did that to his diary. What a loss for future generations, but we must always remember that these people are individuals with families who treasure them. Sigh. And they're dead, unfortunately. Grr.

She's such a wonderful character, isn't she? It's puzzled me for quite a few years that no one has done anything with her story.
I'd love to visit so many archaeological sites, though - if I ever win our big lottery over here - you wouldn't see me for dust!
It would help my chances if I ever thought to buy a ticket, though, wouldn't it? *note to self - start buying lottery tickets*
I doubt I'll ever get there, but it would be wonderful.
There's also a theory that Ankhenaten suffered from a genetic disorder called Marfan's Syndrome. It seems to fit, and the representations of him and his family, especially considering the close intermarrying of Egyptian royal lines also lends credence to this theory.
from Biblical Archaeologist, 59:2 (1996)'Akhenaten exhibits an almost complete expression of this genetic mutation ( ... )

hatshepsut and hypatia are also favorites of mine. i'm fortunate to have good museums in my backyard and always visit the good ones "not in my backyard" when i travel. i'm an egyptian history/greek history/mythology junkie.
and i saw 7 pounds as well. i remember thinking throughout the movie that will's character would not be able to give his heart to rosario's character because it would never fit. not sure why the writers/casting people never considered that. oh well. still a very noble and interesting idea. also puts a different spin on suicide. its always perceived so negatively but no one ever mentions anything about the character's suicide when discussing the movie. but it was still a pained and troubled soul seeking an escape.
