This is a clip from the BBC show Mechanical Marvels and I thought you'd enjoy it. It's a 250 year old self contained programmable automaton that actually writes and is not only a fascinating feat of engineering, but beautiful. I'm off to see if I can find the whole show now...

A little doco on the building of Sydney Harbour Bridge. What it lacks in snappy narration it makes up for in facts and nostalgia. As a Sydneysider for many years, it's so strange to see the harbour without the iconic 'coathanger' as we affectionately call it over here.

A sweetie they used to make for children, which my Father in Law used to love, was partially cooked whole carrots, put on a stick and then covered in toffee, like a toffee apple. How many kids today would even have a try of that one, eh? lol!
