Feb 21, 2015 14:18

Pairing: Sakumoto
Rating: PG
Word Count: 345 words

Disclaimer: Purely a figment of my imagination; the fic, that is.  Not them, of course. :)
Summary: Jun comes face to face with his doppelganger.  He didn't think this was what he'd be feeling.
A/N: You know THAT Puzzle & Dragons 60-second commercial right?  That's to blame for this drabble... and for kicking me in the butt to get back to some semblence of writing again.  Let's see if the opportunity arises to revisit this verse.  J As always, comments are love ©.

One moment, it had been an all-too-quiet emptiness that they faced; the next, it was like looking in the mirror.  Only, it couldn’t have been, not with the way the other’s left limb morphed into something entirely NOT human.  He barely had enough time to draw breath before a hooded shadow flashed past him, leaving a blur of red sparks that made Jun’s guts plunge to the bottom of his stomach.

“No, Sh-“

The name died on his lips even as he watched tension radiate throught the sloping shoulders that were moving too fast, too far away from him.  At full speed.  At his non-human doppelganger.  Who now no longer looked anything like himself, save for his… its face.

The face within which the soulless black orbs spelled a void that sucked Jun’s breath from him.

For it wasn’t just the lack of life in the android’s eyes, but the realization that unlike its human counterpart, this machination had no plans in keeping alive the human rapidly approaching it.

There was no time to worry if the others were getting in place to give him cover.  He just had to make sure the stupid fool - his stupid fool - didn’t get himself killed.

Yet, he found his steps faltering slightly as he watched Sho flip over.

The Jun-droid’s countenance registered no pleasure, no emotion, casually swiping Sho’s feet from under him before he could even come into contact with the droid, the older man’s hoverskates flung into the wall upon the loss of control from its owner.

And while Jun’s mask hid the flash of hot fury that whipped through his body, there was no denying that his temper had ignited, just like the sparks that had emitted upon impact between man and machine.

Feeling a frisson of shivers run through him, Jun’s steps stabilized, accelerating forward as the Jun-droid’s attention shifted, apparently aware that it had a new foe to contend with.

Well, Jun thought, his feet picking up speed as he drew in close, he never was very good in reining in HIS emotions.
