Who makes these games and shows?

Adults do.

Why do they appeal to children and older audiences?

Because they're enjoyable, easier to grasp and just plain awesome.

Exactly! I hate it when people do that. I remember reading an article about the casual gaming thing that referred to video games as previously only being for children. I think someone should send the a copy of Silent Hill.

Even when games and cartoons do appeal to children, that doesn't mean they're automatically a waste of time to anyone over twelve.
