Adults do.

Why do they appeal to children and older audiences?

Because they're enjoyable, easier to grasp and just plain awesome.

This morning's episode of Pokemon was pretty good. Dare I say heavy? It was 'Chim Charred' in case any of you want to watch it. Ash trying to get super raged Chimchar to snap out of it was the highlight of the episode for me. Although in general I like any episode where Paul is involved.
