Tony ignored the blankets, not wanting anything to impede his progress if he suddenly had to run. He couldn't explain the feeling of unease, the gut instinct that he needed hide and run until the sun dipped low enough to provide the protection he needed.
He listened to Ianto make the phone call and rubbed his hands together, restlessly. The offer of spirits made him pause.

Looking at his watch, Ianto considered and then finally shrugged. It was five o'clock somewhere, right?
The cabinet was the other side of the room, so Ianto crossed over and lifted out the decanter along with two glasses. If Tony was having a drink then so was Ianto and besides, this was some excellent brandy. That, and it was always depressing to drink alone.
Bringing the glasses over, Ianto sat down on the couch next to Tony, and indicated the TV with a foot. "Want to play something?"

"Huh?" Tony's attention flicked to the television and the game console in front of it instead of the windows and doors of the room. He accepted the glass from Ianto and gulped at the brandy, coughing a little as it burned down his throat.

"Hey," Ianto said, "if you're not going to drink that properly, then I'm going to take it away from you." He sipped at the brandy himself, as though he were showing just how it should be done.
"There's security alerts all over for any breach here. We'll know where he is long before he gets to this room, and your nerves are going to be shot to pieces if you don't relax at least a little." In the worst case scenario there was a lockdown, much like the Hub back home, but it was another thing he thought best not to mention.

Ianto smiled faintly, glad he'd gotten though to Tony at least a little, but then it was gone when his friend sobered up. He rested his glass on his knee, and sat up a little straighter.

"I dunno," he sighed. "Maybe it'd help."

He set the brandy down on the coffee table and fidgeted, shamefaced.
"It's just...I don't even know this place," Tony tried to explain. "It's not safe to be somewhere you don't know."

"Well, you know me, right? And I live here."

"I remember knowing you. But then I...don't."

He was quiet for a moment, finger tapping the side of the glass. "If I said to you the words The City, would you know what I was talking about?"

He tapped the glass a couple of times, and then started again. "Where did you see the monster?"
Reply
"Bloor. I was heading up Bloor, by the Manulife building."
Reply
"Is that in the City?"

Tony stopped short, closed his mouth, then tried again.
"I was just there. I saw it."

He realised it probably wasn't a good idea to question Tony too hard, so he was going to leave it soon enough.
