ME Technology???

OK, I have a question for all of you about the ME Technology. I know it was created by the goverment to wipe out the memories of people that come into contact with contractors. I'm a little confused as to how it works though. I always thought it was the contractors that could access the technology through hells gate, because in the end of the ( Read more... )

end of the second episode, Hei orders Chiaki to forget everything

I never got the impression that that was an actual order or that it had an effect: he was just saying 'Forget about me, you'll be better off'. And, obviously, she didn't forget, because she followed him, recognized him when she caught up with him, and defied her own programming to protect him.

Also, even if it did have an effect on her, that's more likely because he knew that she was a Doll, and that 'Forget' was a preprogrammed command.

I always thought he used some kind of power there, because the Astronomy Division called to say that BK201 was on the move, just shortly after that, and he really didn't use any electricity untill he was fighting those guys.
I knew he knew she was a doll, but I guess I thought that erasing their memories worked on Dolls too, because don't they use that technology to insert memories into them?
Aughhh!! This anime can fry my brain sometimes.

Thanks for your insite :)

I figured that the stars moved with the contractors, not just twinkle when they use their powers. Not consistently enough to track their movements from it or anything, but enough to tell when they're 'on the move'.

I think that he used a little bit of electricity and that why Chiaki get unconscious... he used electricity to make the same to Oosuka...

I dunno, everything makes sense to me but the Gate Rocketship. That was bizarre.

A month-late delayed comment, but I'm bored and I feel like geeking over something X3b

Another thing to note, I think a few times during the series they used the ME to program the dolls (once during the Chiaki arc and I think another mentioning later on during the Yin arc about her "minimal program", but I could be wrong, it has been a while DX)

Unless I missed something too? My impression is it's another of those open-ended questions they left behind over the series. Like how the Contractors and Dolls were really created, that RCR field they mentioned in the first few episodes (can't remember the full name DX) that they said all contractors had while a few contractors exhibit the fact that they don't have it, et cetera et cetera.

IMO, I think it's one of those government-esque things to keep the public from finding out about the contractors by manipulation of memories, while people like the Syndicate could use their connections to create dolls for their own needs by wiping the memories of the humans in question and reprogram them ( ... )

It's amazing how many different conclusions one can come up with. I thought that there was just to big of an incident to be able to wipe every ones memories of it.

I appreciate your in-site. Thanks for responding! :)
