Don't underrate or think something is 'just a storm'; If it causes that much fear, then to you atleast it's big! Adress that fear! I hope you hold up well; my best wishes and thoughts are with you ^_^ Remind yourself you'll be ok, settle your mind even if your heart is terrified.
*hugs* amazingly hard to settle yourself when your memories and senses mix together. I did my best, and stayed in my own bed, but I didn't sleep at all well. Every time the wind changed directions to howl at just the right tone, it jerked me awake.
*hugs* I know hon, and thank you. You're right though, I did log off as soon as I posted this - in part because I didn't want to risk something happening to to computer if the power went out again.
I've been through hurricanes myself. They are scary. Anyone who has never faced one can't really understand what it's like. And when something scares you no one can tell you to just get past it; if only it worked that easily!
Exactly. Tornadoes are here and gone again, but hurricanes... New Orleans is an excellent example of why I fear them. I did my best to sleep through the storm, and I did get a little sleep, but nearly enough to leave me feeling rested this morning.
Storms scare me as well and I have trouble sleeping through ones with high winds--fear of trees falling onto the house or the roof taking off. Tornadoes are unlikely late at night but straight winds can do a lot of damage.
If you're afraid you won't hear the sirens, leave a radio on tuned to a local station--they'll send loud warnings over it.
I love to sleep in storms - normal ones. But the storm last night wasn't normal. It was more like a hurricane coming up... calm, calm, and then the winds hit. I don't need worry so much about trees hitting the house, because we only have small ones near the house, less than six inches in diameter, but the roof is something to worry about, yes. Sleeping with my head under a window didn't help much with my peace of mind, either.
