Zach wasn't ashamed to admit that he ran -he could acknowledge that he panicked; it was a fucken shock to say the least and his self survival had over rode his wolf's instinct to claim his mate. He had spent his whole adult life -and wolves came of age a hell of a lot earlier then humans did- hoping to never find his mate and when suddenly confronted with him, running had seemed like his best option.
He had spent the whole next night running around the woods he Changed in, his wolf howling mournfully and taking it's temper out on numerous deer and rabbits.
That had been two days ago and his wolf was still sulking.
It felt weird to Zach for him to be this out of synch with his wolf; ever since he had been a toddler, Zach had always been able to integrate the two sides of his nature and for the first time in his life he felt at odds with that half of himself. It was discerning and Zach didn't like it all.
But he liked the idea of his sex life -hell, his whole life, at the mercy of someone else's whims and mood swings even less, so he figured he'd just have to get used to it.
Zach was pretty confident that he would be able to get over this; L.A. was a big place, after all, and with all the people in the city, the chances of him running into one particular person were slim to one.
When he ran into his mate at LAMILL later that day, he became convinced that he was Hitler in a past life and that karma was out to get him.
