Ah here we are, discussing Dance with the Devil. I happen to know that for a few of you, this is your favorite book so I'm very excited to read what you all have to say. The only thing I have to say is that if you want to mention things that happen in future books, please put something in the subject line of your comment along the lines of " ( Read more... )

When I think back to Dance with the Devil, I do remember my eyes burning and this need to bawl at the hell that was his life. It made my heart go out to the man to be so abused, and it made me want to rip into his father.

Though, another thing I remember is the interaction between Zarek and Sasha "Why is scooby laying on a sweater glaring at me?" And the other things. It's just too hilarious.

But nothing can compare to The Simi

That's right, I forgot about Sasha and Zarek's interactions. I love that one line at the end when Sasha shows up in human form and Zarek tells him "Sorry Scooby I'm all out of LivaSnaps."

Zarek tends to make everyone hostile around him though!

If I'm correct, but hell my memory was already called in question today, but I think my friend cried at that book too.

For a while there, I could not re-read that book because it made me emotionally. Then try reading SEIZE THE NIGHT when you are eight/months pregnant. The waterworks.

Oh I know what you mean, Seize the Night really got to me too. It was totally unexpected, ALL OF IT! Valerius, Nick, Simi... Wow, what a way to leave you hanging huh? I just hope Sherri writes Nick's story soon.

Oh yeah talk about ironic, Zarek becoming a god? Geez, it's like giving a pyro matches! LOL.

Simi is just funny, I love when she and Zarek first meet too and when she tells Astrid to tell Zarek to leave her alone or she'll have to barbecue him and make akri mad at her.

I think you'll definately change your opinion about Valerius after you read his story.

I figured I might end up changing my mind.
I just couldn't see how SK would work around some of the memories that Zarek has...and reconcile it to Valerius' POV.

I really like Nick too, and I made the mistake of reading the first few paragraph's of Nick's ebook... O.O HOLY SH**

s'all I'm sayin'

Oh don't worry, Zarek's issues are far from over and they carry over into Valerius' story.

It made me hate Artemis even more(I figured Ash did the best he could to keep Zarek alive, knowing it might work out for him eventually...re:foresight, and all).

...I don't normally use the word....but LOATHE...comes to mind when I read her character...In the end...lordy, forbid the series to ever end...

I would really enjoy getting to see the Simi have the heffer goddess for bbq!!!!

Yeah that's true, I was upset that Acheron would do that to one of his Dark Hunters just to save his own skin. But I think it might have been necessary for Zarek to endure all of that pain and suffering (not Simi's BBQ sauce LOL) so that he could ultimately meet the fate he was supposed to.

I could go on and on about how much I enjoyed this book. Yep, I'm one of those die-hard Zarek fans. :) I don't always go for the gruff and crude guys, but when they have a heart as big as Zareks, I do. You mentioned the minks, which was the first time Zarek showed his nice-guy side.

Of course, he didn't think, "Poor minks, I'd better save the tiny, little fellows," but was sarcastic and grumpy about the whole thing. That made it better somehow. Not only is he willing to lend a hand, but he thinks nothing of suffering to protect the innocent as well. Spending a night freezing and shivering on the floor must have been horrible. I don't think I could have done that. (course I'm mortal, haha) Zarek's other small kindnesses also stand out in my mind - donating money to the village, carving the ice sculptures for all to enjoy ( ... )

The attitude that Zarek has about helping ANYBODY makes him appealing. We know that he'd just like to let everyone fend for themselves because he is bitter at the world, but deep down inside, he could never stand by and let someone suffer like he did or worse.
