Oh, my lord, the first robin is here. And he's not happy at all. We still have 3' of snow. When I went out to feed the chickens, I noticed that the top of the potting bench had come out from under the snow- I was still standing with my feet higher than the top of it, though! I hope robins like bird seed as much as they do bugs....

They do migrate, but "south" is relative. :) Robins that live in the high Arctic during summer might migrate into southern Canada/northern US for winter, while the robins that live in the northern US will head towards the southern parts of the country. So even though we might see robins year-round in some places, they'll be different birds depending on the season. Basically they'll go where they can find food consistently. Most don't like deep snow, so places that get a lot of snow might not see them in winter.

We had so much rain the worms are everywhere. The robins don't have to work very hard. Daffodils opened yesterday. Hold on spring will get there!
