Hanatarou had thought about bringing daikon or bok choy, but some kind of ready-to-serve side dish seemed better... there was something uncouth (it seemed to him) about bringing something that one did not personally know how to prepare, since there was the implicit idea that one's host would be burdened with preparing it (and knowing how to). (Not that he'd mind if he brought something that wasn't served, but the host might feel that he would, which would be another burden.) He'd also considered something like a cookbook with recipes for Asian vegetables, but he didn't know where to find an English-language version... and besides, it wasn't a very party-relevant kind of thing to bring. And he wasn't going to have a lot of time to wander around a Tokyo department store to find something else that did seem suitable... And even though bringing extra food to a party seemed somewhat normal and polite in his head, mightn't there be some hosts who would see it as a statement that their guest did not think them capable of producing an

"Hana, hi-hi! ♪" June flits over excitedly to greet her friend, though she stops in surprise when she notices who he came with. "Wow...! So cute! ♥"

"Hello, Miss June," Hanatarou smiles. "You're as energetic as ever today."

"Isn't she? This is Miss Buneary, the, um... Buneary. Bun for short. She's staying with me for a while."

"Buneary? So it's like a bunny?"

Well, that much is a bit obvious. And really, she's more interested in seeing if Bun will let her pet her.

"Bun?" The Buneary blinks at June curiously. She's never seen a person that small before! And June doesn't look like a fellow Pokemon either! This is a mystery that needs solving! "Buneary?" She toddles closer, cocking her head to one side. Wait, this person looks like she wants to pet her!

"She's a Pokemon!" Hanatarou explains helpfully.

June giggles and gently rubs the buneary's fur, marveling at how soft it is. Friends and cute animals -- this is the best party ever. ♥

"Pokemon?" She looks up at Hana, but doesn't stop petting the buneary just yet.

Bun has nothing to contribute at the moment, because her fur's getting rubbed and June just hit that one spot behind her ears and "Buuuunnnnn~♥" She leans into the scratches, her eyes half-closed in pokemon bliss. Oh yes. Definitely the best party ever.

"Yes! They're a sort of..." he thinks of how to explain. "... I'm not sure. I think they can do magic or something."

Just the idea makes her giddy. Magical, super-fluffy bunny rabbits. Well, why not?

"Bun!" Bun affirms. She's totally magic. Whole nations have been driven to their knees with the pure light of Bun's Cute. Really. Just ask her. "Bunbun! Buneary! Bun!" See? She's explaining her secret quest for world domination! Or possibly asking for more skritchings. It's hard to tell when you're talking to someone with a one-word vocabulary.

"...Maybe?" Hanatarou shrugs. He's rather sketchy on the Poké-details. ._.

"Hanatarou!" Jeff has made it as well, and he seems to be in much better spirits. "Thanks so much for bringing Bun." If Hanatarou is still affected by the power swap LOL, he would probably notice that the stranger elements of Jeff's smell seem to be gone.

"Jeff!" Hanatarou answers. "... You're different!"
