A trio of armed people stalking past the mouth of his alley is likely to get Rat's attention. Even more so when one of these is a very jumpy-looking young man armed with what appears to be an antique bronze-tipped spear and a first-aid kit.

Cornelius is no medieval knight or Greek hoplite, but he's trying to look brave. He's also trying to watch both Melinda and Daniel at once, because the one's injured and the other is...only moderately trustworthy.

Schreber knows Cornelius thinks he's untrustworthy and he would not argue with that. He took a couple knives and tucked them away in the bag with his tools but he really doesn't know how to use anything but a gun. Somewhere in the house he had the revolver Crane sent him but the house is gone now. What he'd really like is a canister of feargas. Instead he has a small case of syringes, carefully cushioned so they won't get beat up in the bag along with the tools. Cornelius will probably be very upset if he ever sees them but Schreber will take any kind of weapon he can get in an emergency. He doesn't know if his sedatives will work on the Strangers or not.

Mel limps along, trying to stay ahead of the two men. She's covered in Stranger goo, looking extremely dark and serious, and looks just a little bloodthirsty.

She hasn't turned the lightsaber on yet. But she will.

Okay, this is... different. Hey, doesn't he know that kid?
Rat's been sitting in the mouth of an alley with his guitar slung on his back, having a quiet smoke and watching the city slowly crumble. Some figures flew past overhead once, fighting, but he's not really sure he's awake anymore and they didn't notice him, so it's all good. He's feeling a little spacy and wondering if it's just possible he really has gone crazy. Then Melinda limps by on the other side of the street with two milquetoasts following her, one young and nervous and the other limping and using a cane. A small army on the way to battle is really not the first thing that comes to mind.
He stands up slowly, a little stiff from sitting crouched there so long, and from the cold, and being over forty. It's a bad combination. He's very tall and the movement makes him cough.
Don't everybody be trigger-happy here, please? It's only a homeless tramp.
