I found Stratford overly touristy for just visiting, but definitely see if you can catch a play or two while you're there--the new theatre is gorgeous, as is the Swan. I don't recall how old you are offhand, but they have cheap tickets for under-25s and you can sometimes get cheap returns on the day of a performance ( ... )

Ooh thank you on the advice! A town of bookshops, yay :) Cambridge sounds lovely too.

I've been to Canterbury and absolutely loved it.

Thanks for the info on Cornwall and the Portrait Gallery and Globe too! I'll look into all of that :)

If you fancy meeting up in South Kensington one lunchtime or at 4pm on a Wednesday or Friday I would be happy to do so.

Have fun!! I've never been to London (my only trip overseas was a recent Oxford and Birmingham trip). All the museums/galleries/coffee shops/bookstores sound amazing though...I'm very envious! Have a wonderful time!

My favourite museum is the V&A.

Gloucester cathedral is interesting, but there's little more of my city I'd recommend. The countryside is pretty though.

Thanks! I'll check out the museum at least, definitely. I looked it up and it looks great :) I do like the countryside but won't have a car, so I'll try to get out of the city but don't know where yet.

I haven't been since 1999, but we had a really nice day trip to Bath. The Roman bath was fascinating, still working after centuries, and the city is nice to wander around in ( ... )

We were very limited on time, but we found the idea of going to locations from The Highlander movie and series kind of a fun way to travel and combine love of history with our fandom love.

Did the same thing in Paris too, because the show filmed half a season there each year (it was a co-production thing). Not sure what your schedule is like, but you might be able to take a trip over to France as well.
