Even though I'm pretty sure you could find a place to turn into a hermit for a while, I'd suggest going for the first option. It's easier than worrying yourself about the things that come up here.

Duly noted, Captain. By the way, the Torchwood people seem to know a lot about the Enterprise. They say you've even authorized them to visit. Is that accurate?

Jack Harkness, Ianto Jones, and Gwen Cooper all have open invitation to visit whenever. Don't think Gwen plans on using it, but in case of emergency, it's there.
