So happy to meet you

There's a "friending meme" going on over here:

Which I found via yshaloo and I'm joining and reposting for 2 main reasons:

I was recently involved in a Facebook conversation wherein there were seven commenters. Of them, and the person who started it, all but one had LiveJournals. The theme of the conversation was how nobody posts there anymore.

I'm in a Flickr group where the membership has diminished. The people who had left tried a Facebook group, and once I even saw a comment, "let's make this like Flickr used to be!" I so wanted to ask, in a pointed tone, why he left.

Oh well. That's the way of things. I still enjoy it here, despite the losses.

Yup. Agree.

I keep finding new, interesting people who are left here. I think I'm actually more comfortable when lj is a fringe community. I like the wordy people, and the ones who have things to say that are too rude/private/whatever for Facebook.

I hate those "who's still here" posts as well. I've been here since January of 2001, I'm not going anywhere. I don't write as much as I did at one point, but I'm also not nearly as angsty as I was then.

Yeah, I would hope we'd all learned something, from the angsty postings of our times past. :D

Thanks for sharing.
Also I thought I'd just say that your LJ is one of my favorites. I don't comment often but I really enjoy reading your posts.
