.

I discovered Right Bank Babies last year when I first visited Shop Familia, a little boutique in the ground floor of La O' Centre just outside the gate of San Lorenzo Village, Makati. Giuliano is also barefoot. He's learning the textures of everything underfoot ... from grass to sand to wood. I had our entire floor changed to a better quality wood finish because the old one was chipping. Barefoot walking is supposed to help them learn balance and exercise their foot muscles, foot and toe grip. I had to get handmade soft leather shoes though ... for walking practice in restaurants and on concrete. But it's summer ... so he's better off barefoot and I don't like to stunt his foot growth with tough shoes.

i agree. the best way for them to learn balance is when they're barefoot. that's why i've kept the two kids barefoot as long as i could. they only wear tough shoes when they're beyond 2.

hi Ms. Daphne! My son who is 2 and a half years old right now is almost always barefoot at home. He like the feeling of wet grass in the morning and you are right that children learn how to balance more quickly when barefoot. Anyways, whenever we go out my son wears either Crocs for kids or Pedipeds. You can find Pediped in Hobbes and Landes. They are soft and stylish.
